Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the largest user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, and you also report the 25% postgraduate figure and the smallest share for academic staff. You include information from both the chart and the satisfaction table, and your final sentence attempts an overview. However, some comparisons are incomplete or imprecise: part-time postgraduates are 16%, but their figure is omitted, and the satisfaction results for staff helpfulness, books, journals and Wi-Fi are not compared in a clear overview. Saying users are “not satisfied more with availability of journals” is broadly supported by its 20% dissatisfied share, but Wi-Fi is close at 19%. The response therefore covers the task only partially, with several relevant points left under-developed. Group the main user shares and highlight the strongest satisfaction results as well as the main concern.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a generally understandable order: it describes the user categories first, then moves to satisfaction, and ends with a brief summary. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “the second group” and “the fourth position” attempt to connect details. However, there is no clear paragraphing, and the sequence of figures becomes repetitive, with several short statements following the same pattern. The transition from user categories to satisfaction is abrupt, while “All users are some how satisfied” does not clearly connect to the specific percentages that follow. The final sentence repeats earlier information rather than synthesising the main features. Use separate paragraphs for the chart and table, and organise each around comparisons rather than listing figures one by one.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “part-time postgraduate,” “availability,” and “not satisfied,” so the reader can identify the categories and survey measures. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, such as “makes 44% use of library,” “all time,” and “spends minimum time in library.” These choices sometimes make it unclear whether the figures describe library use, time spent, or the proportion of users. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “helpulness,” “availabilty,” “mor,” and “undergraduae.” Aim for precise reporting language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe percentages as the share of respondents in each category, rather than as time spent in the library.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple present forms, and the basic meaning is usually recoverable. However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. The opening, “The chart show the result survey,” lacks correct agreement and articles, while “Full time post graduate uses 25% of all time” has an unclear subject–verb relationship and an inaccurate sentence pattern. In “Academic staff spends 7% of all time which spends minimum time,” the relative clause is malformed and the verb does not fit the subject. Sentence boundaries and spacing around punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise accurate basic reporting structures first, such as “Full-time undergraduates make up 44% of users” and “Twenty per cent were dissatisfied with journal availability,” then add a small range of well-controlled comparisons.
