Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two visuals and correctly report the broad ranking of user groups: full-time undergraduates are the largest group, followed by full-time postgraduates, while academic staff are the smallest. You also note that satisfaction is stronger for opening hours and staff helpfulness than for the other areas. However, the response only partially summarises the data: it gives no percentages, and the description of satisfaction as “moderated” is vague. The table shows particularly high satisfaction with staff helpfulness (95% very satisfied) and no dissatisfaction with opening hours, while journals and Wi-Fi have the highest dissatisfaction. The response is also below the required 150 words. Add an overview and selected figures to develop the main comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence, moving from the user categories to the satisfaction table, and phrases such as “Starting with” and “According to this table” help signal the shift. However, the ideas are compressed into one paragraph, so there is little clear progression from an overview to supporting details. The list of user groups is difficult to follow, and the final sentence groups several different satisfaction results together without explaining their contrasts. Some linking is mechanical, and punctuation around transitions is inconsistent. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the two visuals, then organise each paragraph around a clear comparison, supported by figures. This would make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “percentage,” “satisfaction,” and “criteria,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the report less precise, such as “moderated” for satisfaction levels and “counts how much users are satisfied.” There are also repeated spelling errors, including “satisified,” “posrt,” and “Availablity,” which can distract the reader. Aim for accurate, natural collocations such as “shows the proportion of users” and “levels of satisfaction.” Use the chart’s labels consistently, and choose precise terms to distinguish “very satisfied,” “fairly satisfied,” and “not satisfied” rather than describing them broadly as positive, neutral, or negative.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence structures, for example, “According to this table we see that…,” but control is inconsistent and the range remains limited. Several sentences contain errors that make the reader pause: “The two graph visualizations describe library's users” lacks an appropriate possessive form, and “There 5 categories in total” is missing a verb. The clause “the type of people whom visiting library” has an incorrect relative structure and verb form. Sentence boundaries and spacing are also unreliable, as in “satisfaction.Starting” and “chart, which.” These recurring problems fit a response where errors can cause difficulty. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking articles, verbs, and punctuation.
