Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the two visuals and give a relevant overview, noting that full-time undergraduates form the largest user group and academic staff the smallest, and that staff helpfulness receives strong satisfaction while journals are a weaker area. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: the final sentence stops at “maximum share of library users are under”, and almost none of the figures or comparisons are reported. The table’s opening-hours and wi-fi results are also omitted. The response is 72 words, below the required 150, which leaves the key features substantially undeveloped. To improve, complete the summary and select several accurate figures, such as 44% for undergraduates and 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness, alongside a comparison of satisfaction across services.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic overall sequence: an introduction names the chart and table, followed by an overview and the start of a detail paragraph. The use of “While” and “Overall” helps signal the relationship between sections. However, the response ends abruptly in the middle of “In pie chart, maximum share of library users are under”, so there is no completed progression into supporting details or a conclusion. The overview also places two separate observations together without developing their links. For a clearer response, use distinct paragraphs for the overview and selected data, and connect each comparison explicitly—for example, contrast satisfaction with staff helpfulness against satisfaction with journals.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage”, “categories”, “satisfaction”, “helpfulness” and “unavailability”, so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make the writing less clear, including “ILLUTRATES”, “VARIOS”, “SERVIECES” and “PEOLPE”. Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “categories using library” and “maximum percentage is of”. Choose accurate chart language such as “account for”, “make up” and “the largest proportion”, and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help distinguish the user groups from the satisfaction ratings and make comparisons easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a compound sentence with “While” and includes an overview sentence using “however”, showing some effort to connect ideas. Nevertheless, the range of sentence structures is very limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “categories using library” lacks a clear grammatical construction, while “the maximum percentage is of full-undergraduate” has an awkward and incomplete structure. The final sentence is unfinished, and “Most people are highly satisfied” is a broad statement without a clear grammatical link to the specific survey results. Practise complete sentences with accurate articles and noun phrases, such as “Full-time undergraduates account for the largest share of users.”
