Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both visuals and report the main figures accurately: undergraduates are the largest group at 44%, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction, with 95% very satisfied. You also compare the satisfaction levels for opening hours, books, journals and wi-fi. However, the response lacks a clear overview drawing together the main patterns, such as the high ratings for staff and opening hours versus the greater dissatisfaction with journals and wi-fi. The satisfaction section is largely a list of figures, so some key features are not interpreted or prioritised. The response is 147 words, below the 150-word minimum; add a concise overview and a little explanation of the main contrasts to meet the requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is arranged in a sensible order: it first describes the user categories and then moves to satisfaction results. This makes the two visuals easy to distinguish, and linking phrases such as “while,” “followed by” and “In case of” help connect comparisons. However, the second paragraph becomes a dense sequence of statistics, with limited grouping or signposting of the most important patterns. The opening sentence also combines the chart and table without establishing an overview. Use a separate overview sentence, then group the satisfaction results—for example, the strongest ratings and the areas with more dissatisfaction. This would create clearer progression and make the comparisons less list-like.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing the visuals, including “share,” “highest satisfaction,” “availability” and “respectively,” and the meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise, such as “Library User satisfaction percentage is judged on five factors” and “helping nature of staff.” “Five types of users” is understandable, but “five user groups” is more natural in this context. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “Library” and “Postgraduate,” and “tabel” is misspelled. Aim for precise, conventional chart language and check spelling and capitalisation. For example, describe satisfaction as “measured across five aspects” rather than “judged on five factors.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and most of the data relationships remain understandable. There are, however, some errors in sentence construction and agreement. In “The chart and tabel illustrates,” the plural subject requires “illustrate”; “Full-time undergraduate having the biggest share” is a fragment; and “Full-time Postgraduate consisting 25%” lacks a suitable verb construction. The final sentence also omits a clear verb in the comparison “while 35% and 33% fairly satisfied.” Use complete clauses, such as “Full-time undergraduates account for the largest share,” and repeat the verb where needed: “35% and 33% were fairly satisfied.” More consistent control of articles and sentence boundaries would improve accuracy.
