The pie chart and the table depicts the results of a survey of library users at a university.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, and you note that full-time postgraduates make up about a quarter. You also select relevant satisfaction findings, especially the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the 20% dissatisfied with journal availability. However, some figures are misreported: academic staff are 7% and distance learners 8%, not the reverse. The overview also says users were satisfied with “the facility” generally, although satisfaction varies by category; for example, 10% were dissatisfied with books and 19% with wi-fi. The response addresses both visuals, but the satisfaction data are only partly reported and some claims, such as “all the students” being very satisfied, are too broad.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for user categories and satisfaction. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement, and phrases such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” signal the shift between the visuals. However, these transitions are somewhat mechanical, and the second body paragraph moves between general satisfaction, staff, and journals without a clear sequence through the table. References such as “Some of them” and “the others facilities” are also unclear, making it harder to identify which satisfaction categories are being discussed. Grouping the satisfaction results into strongest and weakest ratings, then comparing the remaining categories, would improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categories,” “availability,” and “satisfied,” so the meaning is generally recoverable. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, including “diffirent,” “propotion,” “utilisers,” “quater,” and “subsequentely.” Several phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “took the most of the ratio,” “facility of helpfulness,” and “variety of support” do not describe the chart data clearly. Repetition of “satisfied” and “facility” limits the range. Aim for accurate, conventional reporting language such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “were very satisfied with the helpfulness of staff”; check spelling carefully before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “while not happy with the availability of journals” and the clause beginning “Most of them that is 95%.” The main ideas can usually be understood, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The pie chart and the table depicts” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Availability of journals were” also has incorrect agreement. The sentence “all the students were very satisfied” is grammatically formed but makes an unsupported generalisation; more precise sentence construction would help. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly the missing space after “On the one hand,” and several long sentences would benefit from clearer clause boundaries. More accurate agreement and sentence control are needed.
