Student answer (Band 5.5)

The pie chart and table collectively illustrates the results of a survey of students who use library at university. The pie chart individually shows the proportions of categories of library users. However, the table demonstrates the satisfaction level of library users.

By looking at the pie chart, we can clearly see that a major portion of library users was of full-time bachelor students which covers the 44% of total portion. Then there are master's students which are the second largest and occupied 25%. The least category is of library users was of academic staff and online users which covers the 7% and 8% respectively. At last, there are part-time posgraduates by only 16% of total portion.

Altough, the satisfaction level of users depend on different factors. Majority users were satisfied by cooperation of staff and library opeining hours. Major dissatisfaction was due to unavailibility of journals. The moderate section was availibility of books and journals. As of wifi people were moderately satisfied. But 19% of people were not satisfu

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two visuals and report several key figures from the user-category chart accurately, including the 44% share of full-time undergraduates and the 25% share of full-time postgraduates. You also note that staff helpfulness and opening hours receive strong satisfaction, while journals attract the greatest dissatisfaction. However, the response only partly summarises the table: it gives no figures for these comparisons and ends before completing the point about Wi-Fi. Some descriptions are also imprecise, such as calling the users “students” when the chart includes academic staff, and “unavailability” of journals overstates what the data show. Include a clear overview and support the main comparisons with selected percentages, especially the 95% staff-helpfulness rating and the 20% dissatisfied with journals.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about user categories, and a paragraph about satisfaction. This gives the reader a basic route through the two visuals, and linking phrases such as “By looking at” and “As of wifi” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within the final paragraph is less clear: the discussion moves from staff and opening hours to journals, books, and Wi-Fi without figures or a consistent comparison pattern. “The moderate section” is also unclear as a reference, and “At last” does not accurately signal the position of part-time postgraduates in the sequence. Organise the table information by strongest satisfaction and greatest dissatisfaction, and use clearer references and transitions to make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportions,” “satisfaction level,” “majority,” and “dissatisfaction,” so the response can communicate the general subject. There is also an attempt to vary wording with phrases such as “major portion” and “least category.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing survey data: “cooperation of staff” should refer to staff helpfulness, and “unavailability of journals” suggests a cause not shown by the table. Spelling errors such as “Altough,” “opeining,” “unavailibility,” and “satisfu” are noticeable, while “wifi” should be written consistently as “Wi-Fi.” Aim for precise chart language and check spelling carefully; this will make your comparisons clearer and more appropriately academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “The pie chart individually shows…” and “Although, the satisfaction level of users depend on different factors.” The meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. In the opening, the compound subject “The pie chart and table” requires “illustrate,” not “illustrates.” There are also article and number problems in “use library at university,” and the clause “the satisfaction level of users depend” has subject–verb disagreement. The final sentence is incomplete (“But 19% of people were not satisfu…”), which leaves the idea unfinished. Use complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement, and review articles and plural forms. More accurate control of these patterns would make the range you attempt more effective.
