Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, followed by full-time postgraduates at 25%, and you include several other categories. You also report the highest satisfaction figures for staff helpfulness and opening hours. However, the account of the table is incomplete and sometimes unclear: “maximum number” does not specify the relevant percentages clearly, and the claim that users were “fairly satisfied” with books and journals overlooks that the largest group was very satisfied with books, while journal satisfaction was more mixed. The overview is also unfinished (“full time under”), and there is little comparison of the lower satisfaction results, such as the 20% dissatisfied with journals. Select the key contrasts and summarise them accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, moving from the user categories to satisfaction results, and paragraphing helps distinguish these two parts of the visual. Some linking words, including “According to” and “In addition,” show an attempt to connect information. However, progression is weakened by repeated “However” and “it can be seen,” and some links do not express a clear contrast. For example, the sentence about people being fairly satisfied with books and journals also introduces wi-fi dissatisfaction without clearly separating the comparisons. The final “Overall” sentence is incomplete, so the response ends without a finished summary. Use a concise overview near the beginning and group the satisfaction data into clear comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “full time undergraduate,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “opening hours,” so the reader can generally understand what is being described. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “the total number of the individuals accessing library,” “the cooperation of the library staff,” and “the feel like the wifi was not up to the mark.” These choices sometimes obscure the intended meaning or sound informal for an academic report. Repetition of “individuals,” “people,” and “accessed” also limits precision. Aim for concise chart language such as “users,” “accounted for,” and “rated,” and use the exact category labels where possible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “which” and “who,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic agreement and verb forms: “the pie chart and the table contains” should use a plural verb, while “people where fairly satisfied” should be “people were fairly satisfied.” Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “accessing library” and “the number for that are 65% and 95%.” The final sentence, “Overall, it can be seen that maximum library users are full time under,” is incomplete and leaves the meaning unfinished. These recurring errors make some relationships harder to follow. Build accuracy with shorter, complete sentences, then check agreement, articles, and verb forms.
