Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify both visuals and report several key figures accurately, including the largest user group (44% full-time undergraduates) and the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness (95%). However, the response mainly lists figures rather than summarising the main features, and it has no clear overview comparing the results. It also omits the 0% dissatisfied figures for opening hours and staff helpfulness, and the 19% not satisfied with wi-fi. The table’s overall pattern—that staff helpfulness and opening hours receive the strongest ratings, while journals and wi-fi attract more dissatisfaction—would provide a useful overview. The response is also one word below the required minimum. Add a concise overview and select the most notable comparisons rather than reporting categories one by one.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response follows the order of the visuals: it first describes the user categories and then moves to satisfaction results. This gives the reader a basic structure, and transitions such as “After that,” “Moreover,” and “Finally” help signal sequence. However, the writing reads as a series of repeated statements rather than a developed summary. “Then” and “we shown” recur, and the table information is compressed into one long paragraph, making comparisons harder to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the chart and table, and group related results—for example, the strongest satisfaction ratings together, followed by areas with more dissatisfaction. Clearer linking and grouping would create a more logical progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “availability,” “satisfied,” and “reliability,” so the subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “spending time in the library” and “users in the library”; the chart reports user categories, not time spent there. “This illustrated” and “we shown” are also unsuitable word choices or forms for describing data. Spelling errors such as “libraby” and “i” reduce accuracy. Aim for concise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “rated,” and “the proportion of respondents,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you describe comparisons without repeating the same wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate the basic figures, but grammatical control is inconsistent and the sentence patterns are mostly simple, with repeated attempts at longer constructions that are not well formed. For example, “This illustrated full-time undergraduate student are uses library almost 44%” has problems with tense, agreement, and sentence structure. In “Helpfulness of staff are 95%,” the subject and verb do not agree, while “fairly satisfied are 35%” lacks a clear grammatical link between the rating and the figure. There is little variety in clause structure, and punctuation does not consistently separate the information. Practise accurate patterns such as “Full-time undergraduates accounted for 44%” and “95% were very satisfied with staff helpfulness,” then vary these structures carefully.
