Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response covers both visuals and gives a clear overview of the main patterns: full-time undergraduates form the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction ratings. Most figures are reported accurately, including the user-category shares and the satisfaction results for books, journals and wi-fi. The comparison that journals have the highest dissatisfaction is also supported by the data. However, the opening-hours figures are misreported: 65% are very satisfied and 35% fairly satisfied, not 5% fairly satisfied. The overview could also compare the satisfaction categories more precisely, noting that staff helpfulness has the highest very-satisfied share and that opening hours have no dissatisfied users. Overall, the key features are selected and supported, with some over-generalisation and one numerical error.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the information broadly easy to follow, and phrases such as “On other hand” and “Looking at the table” signal shifts between points. To make the progression more controlled, group the satisfaction results into clearer comparisons rather than listing each row in one long paragraph. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, particularly “Regarding , user satisfaction…” and “Same with journals,” while the repeated use of “while” and “with” makes relationships between figures less precise. The overview also moves abruptly from user numbers to satisfaction. More deliberate transitions and clearer sentence boundaries would strengthen cohesion while preserving the useful overall organisation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “very satisfied,” “fairly satisfied,” “availability” and “reliability,” so the reader can understand the subject and most comparisons. However, the range and control are limited by repeated, imprecise expressions such as “top two high users categories,” “least interested categories” and “consider to be highest not satisfied user demands.” Several word forms or spellings are also inaccurate, including “deplects,” “intrested” and “wifi.” These errors sometimes make the intended comparison awkward to interpret, even though the figures provide context. Aim for concise, conventional chart language and accurate collocations—for example, describe a group as accounting for a share, and refer to the proportion who were dissatisfied. This would make the report more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to use more than simple statements, including comparisons and clauses introduced by “while,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic sentence patterns, as in “The pie chart below illustrate” and “it can been that,” where subject–verb agreement and verb forms are faulty. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “Full-time undergraduate students are high number of users,” and several table descriptions are fragments or lack a clear main verb, such as “Same with journals 45 percent very satisfied.” Punctuation spacing and comma use are uneven, which adds to the difficulty of following longer sentences. Use shorter, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and verb forms; this will improve accuracy without requiring more complex structures.
