The pie chart illustrates the outcomes of a survey of library users at a university.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both visuals and identify several important features: undergraduates form the largest user group, staff and distance learners are the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction rating. The figures you report for these points are accurate. You also compare opening hours with journals and Wi-Fi. This meets the task well, with some features more fully reported than others: the overview does not summarise the full satisfaction pattern, and the book ratings are omitted. In particular, books had 50% very satisfied and 10% not satisfied, while journals had the highest dissatisfaction at 20%. To strengthen the response further, give a concise overview of the main contrasts across all satisfaction categories and report the book results. (Nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, user-category details, and satisfaction details. This gives the reader a coherent route through the two visuals. However, some connections are awkward or unclear, and punctuation occasionally interrupts the flow. For example, “The full-time postgraduate scholars were a quarter of the total on conterary to the part-time colleagues” combines a comparison with an unclear phrase, while the final sentence joins several observations without a clear break. The overview also moves from user composition to staff satisfaction without signalling that it is summarising two separate patterns. Use clearer topic sentences and divide the final section into shorter, logically linked comparisons to make progression more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “contentment,” “satisfied,” and “reliability,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal alternatives, such as “scholars” and “online-education students,” but these are not always natural or precise for describing library-user categories. Several spelling errors—“programms,” “conterary,” and “satisifaction”—reduce accuracy, while phrases such as “no one expressing any unsatisfaction like” are awkward and imprecise. Prefer the chart’s straightforward labels, such as “full-time undergraduates” and “academic staff,” and use standard collocations such as “dissatisfied with” or “expressed dissatisfaction.” More accurate word choice and spelling would make the adequate range more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including comparisons with “whilst” and “on the contrary,” and most of the intended meaning can be followed. Some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. In the overview, “make-up most of the proportion.Almost” needs a space after the full stop, and “expressed high level of contentment” needs an article before “high level.” The sentence beginning “The satisfaction percentages were the highest…” is also incomplete or poorly connected: “95% were very satisfied and 5% to some extent” lacks a parallel verb in the second clause. In addition, “the part-time colleagues who were used the library” has an incorrect verb construction. Check articles, clause structure, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at varied sentence forms.
