Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two visuals and give a relevant overview: full-time undergraduates form the largest user group, academic staff the smallest, and satisfaction is generally positive. Several figures for user categories are accurate, including 44%, 25%, 16%, 8% and 7%. However, the response addresses the satisfaction table only partially: it reports opening hours and staff helpfulness but omits the results for books, journals and Wi-Fi, which are important comparisons. The phrase “full time graduates and postgraduates” also misrepresents the largest group, which is full-time undergraduates. The response is 15 words below the required minimum, leaving limited space to cover the data. Include the omitted categories and compare the strongest and weakest satisfaction results.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. Sequencing phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking at the details” and “Moving on” help the reader follow the shift between visuals. This coherent structure meets the lower-band expectations, and the paragraphing is appropriate. To make progression more complete, develop the final paragraph beyond two results and group related satisfaction figures together—for example, compare staff helpfulness and opening hours with the lower ratings for journals and Wi-Fi. Some linking is formulaic, and the final paragraph ends abruptly, so the report does not feel fully rounded.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categories,” “contributed” and “satisfaction,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision. “Active members” is not a clear way to describe the largest user categories, while “found library opening hours very satisfied” uses an unsuitable construction. There are also misspellings such as “astive,” “garduates,” “contriibuted,” “faily” and “satistafction.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, but they make the report less accurate and polished. Use standard chart-reporting phrases and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of sentence forms, including an overview introduced by “Overall” and a longer sentence beginning “Looking at the details.” Most of the intended meaning can be followed, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, “compares proportion” needs an article, and “the table provides data on users satisfaction” has an incorrect possessive form. The sentence “Most of the users found library opening hours very satisfied” also has a faulty structure; users may be satisfied with the hours, rather than finding the hours satisfied. Capitalisation is inconsistent after sentence openings, as in “Most” and “Full.” Aim for accurate, straightforward constructions first, then add complex forms once the basic sentence patterns are secure.
