Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff make up 7%. You also report several satisfaction figures accurately, including 95% for staff helpfulness and 65% for opening hours. However, the overview is unclear and partly contradicts the table: it says helpfulness and opening hours are less likely to satisfy users, although these receive the strongest satisfaction results. The claim that academic staff get “lesser benefit” is not shown by the data, which records user categories rather than benefit. Some comparisons are incomplete, and the table’s fairly and not-satisfied figures are largely omitted. A clearer overview of the largest and smallest user groups and the strongest and weakest satisfaction results would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This helps the reader follow the two parts of the visual. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some linking expressions do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. For example, “Whereas” begins a fragment rather than a complete contrast, while “Moving on to” is followed by awkward punctuation and a sentence that does not flow smoothly. The overview also groups ideas in a confusing way, particularly when it contrasts high staff satisfaction with the claim that helpfulness is less satisfying. Use complete, clearly connected sentences and organise each paragraph around a consistent comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt task-relevant vocabulary such as “dominant sector,” “satisfied,” “availability” and “reliability,” and the reader can generally identify the topics being discussed. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are frequent enough to make some meanings difficult to follow. Phrases such as “staff practicality,” “getting the least help from the facility” and “single strength of wifi” do not accurately describe the chart or table. There are also repeated spelling errors, including “demosntrates,” “infomation,” “acadamic” and “avalibility.” Aim for precise, neutral reporting language and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the proportion of users in each category and the percentage who were very satisfied, rather than implying that the figures measure benefit or help received.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You make some attempts to combine information in longer sentences, using forms such as “who are using” and “while,” but control is inconsistent. Several sentences have faulty structure or punctuation, including “Whereas, Fulltime post graduate and parttime post graduate students are using the library with 25% and at 16% only” and “Moving on to the syatamatic data from the table, shows that…”. The latter lacks a clear subject, and commas are often placed where they interrupt the sentence. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “the result shows” followed by several loosely connected claims. Build a reliable base of accurate simple sentences, then add complex clauses only when their grammatical relationships are clear.
