Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main user groups and report several accurate figures, including the 44% share of full-time undergraduates and the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness. The overview also attempts to highlight the largest and smallest user categories and a key satisfaction result. However, some descriptions misrepresent what the data measure: users are categories of library users, not how long they spend there, so phrases such as “spent most of their time” and “used the library the least” are not supported. The final comparison is incomplete: “not satisfaction was variable for” gives no figures for dissatisfaction with books, journals or wi-fi. To strengthen the response, describe the proportions as shares of users and complete the comparison, especially noting that opening hours and staff helpfulness received no dissatisfaction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This makes the two visual elements easy to distinguish, and transitions such as “Overall,” “According to this pie chart,” and “Regarding the table” help signal the progression. However, the overview’s claim about time spent does not clearly connect to the chart’s actual categories, and the final sentence stops before completing the discussion of dissatisfaction. The table paragraph also groups several figures into one long sequence, which makes the comparisons harder to follow. Use shorter, clearly organised comparisons—for example, discuss books and journals together, then wi-fi—and ensure each paragraph reaches a complete point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “satisfaction level,” “helpfulness,” “availability,” and “reliability,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, some word choices are inaccurate or awkward for describing these visuals. “Spent most of their time” suggests duration rather than the proportion of users, while “high satisfaction” and “showed higher satisfaction” are imprecise when reporting the specific “very satisfied” category. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “univeristy,” “adminstration,” “undergrdaute,” and “satisg=faction,” as well as the incorrect form “not satisfies.” Choose precise chart language such as “accounted for” or “represented,” and use the table’s satisfaction labels consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the opening sentence linking the chart and table and the overview beginning “while.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable. However, some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “3 levels of satisfaction were decided” uses an unsuitable passive construction, and “95% people” is missing an article or quantifier structure. The phrase “25% are from postgraduate level(full-time)” also needs clearer sentence construction and punctuation. The final fragment, “not satisg=faction was variable for,” is incomplete and leaves the sentence without a finished grammatical structure. Aim for complete sentences, check articles and punctuation around percentages, and proofread verb forms and sentence endings.
