Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share (44%), and academic staff are the smallest (7%). You also select a useful satisfaction feature, noting that staff helpfulness has the highest very-satisfied result (95%). However, the overview is limited and some figures are inaccurate: distance learners are reported as 8.9%, whereas the chart gives 8%, and the opening description omits distance learners. The comparison of satisfaction results is also incomplete; for example, journals have the lowest very-satisfied figure (45%), but wi-fi and books are not meaningfully compared across the three satisfaction levels. Develop a clearer overview of the main patterns and report the data more accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an opening, an overview, and a paragraph containing details, so there is some attempt to organise the information. However, progression is difficult to follow because the final paragraph repeats points already made rather than adding a new comparison. Linking words such as “Overall,” “while,” and “Conversely” are used, but “Conversely” does not introduce a clear contrast, and several ideas are joined in long, crowded sentences. The chart and table information would be easier to understand if grouped into separate, logically ordered paragraphs, with each paragraph focused on one visual. Use cohesive devices to show genuine comparisons, and avoid repeating the same highest and lowest figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “category,” “satisfied,” and “highest,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “the large number of satisfied,” “user satisfication,” and “fairly percenatge.” Spelling errors in “avaibility” and “poening” also reduce clarity. Repeated use of “highest percentage” and “lowest percentage” makes the report sound repetitive. Build a more precise range for describing survey results, such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” and “rated … very satisfied,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, particularly when combining several comparisons. For example, “The chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the table show” also needs a plural verb form. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are frequently unclear: the sentence beginning “The chart illustrate” runs into the next point without a space or full stop, and the opening uses an unnecessary space before the full stop. Articles and sentence construction are also unreliable, as in “the highest percentage of helpfulness of staff.” Use shorter, complete sentences to report each comparison, check subject–verb agreement, and punctuate each sentence clearly.
