Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share (44%), while academic staff are the smallest (7%). You also report several satisfaction figures accurately, including staff helpfulness (95% very satisfied) and opening hours (65%). However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: “full-time postgraduate had the considerable percentage” does not identify the second-largest group clearly, and “frequently used library” is not measured by the chart. Most importantly, the response stops after “The availability of books,” leaving the books, journals and Wi-Fi results largely unreported. The task is therefore only partially covered, and the response is also 9 words below the required minimum. Add a concise overview and compare the remaining satisfaction categories.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to user categories and then satisfaction results. Some linking phrases, such as “Overall,” “By contrast” and “Furthermore,” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is uneven: the second paragraph repeats the undergraduate and postgraduate figures already mentioned, and “Although helpfulness of staff…” is not smoothly connected to the preceding comparison. The final sentence fragment, “The availability of books,” leaves the reader without a completed point or conclusion. Organise the information into a clear overview followed by separate, logically ordered comparisons of user categories and satisfaction ratings, and use references that make each comparison explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt some task-appropriate vocabulary, including “proportion,” “satisfaction” and “dissatisfaction,” and the main topic is generally recognisable. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which limits precision. For example, “frequently used library” suggests usage frequency, which the chart does not show, while “considerable satisfaction of library user” is an unnatural way to describe the ratings. There are also spelling errors such as “servey,” “pert-time” and “staifed.” Use standard chart language consistently, such as “share,” “accounted for,” and “very satisfied,” and check spelling before submitting. More precise vocabulary would make the comparisons easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some simple sentence patterns and attempt longer structures, but control is inconsistent. The opening has a subject–verb agreement error: “The pie chart and table … illustrates” should use “illustrate.” In the overview, “full-time undergraduate had the greater proportion” lacks a plural noun or article structure, and “full-time postgraduate stood at 25%” needs a clearer grammatical subject, such as “the figure for full-time postgraduates.” The phrase “scholars were stood at 16%” also uses an incorrect verb construction. Sentence boundaries are another issue: “The availability of books” is a fragment. Practise accurate comparisons with complete clauses and check agreement, articles and verb forms; this will help you express the data more reliably.
