Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group correctly (full-time undergraduates, 44%) and report all five user categories accurately. The overview also notes the strong satisfaction with staff and lower satisfaction with journals, which are relevant features. However, the table is only partly covered: opening hours, books, and the exact satisfaction pattern for wi-fi are omitted, and the claim that users are “slightly dissatisfied” with journals understates the 20% who were not satisfied. The final comparison is also incomplete, as reliability of wi-fi is mentioned without figures or a clear comparison. The response is one word below the required minimum. Add a concise overview of the table and support the less-developed comparisons with key percentages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the two visual elements easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “while,” and “Both” help signal comparisons. The progression is generally logical, supporting this level of performance. To make the organisation more complete and approach the next level, develop the satisfaction paragraph in a more systematic order, covering the strongest results first and then comparing the weaker areas. The final sentence currently trails off without a full comparison, so the paragraph does not feel fully concluded. Clearer links between the overview and the detailed figures would also improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “accounted for,” “satisfaction,” and “availability,” and the reader can understand the main comparisons. There is some variation in how proportions are described, such as “made up” and “accounted for.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “higher usage” is not the same as a larger share of users, “made the least portion” is unnatural, and “satisfies the 95%” does not express the result correctly. Spelling errors such as “realiability” and the stray “w” in “wthe” also reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “share,” and “were satisfied with,” and proofread carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple statements and some more developed structures, including “while the table shows…” and “while part-time postgraduates accounted for…”. Most of the meaning remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms are noticeable. For example, “full time undergraduates are the biggest portion of users of library” has problems with articles and the noun phrase, while “that represent 44%” has an unclear relative clause and incorrect agreement. In “the helpfulness of the staff which satisfies the 95%,” the clause is not formed accurately. Punctuation spacing is also inconsistent. Practise building accurate comparison sentences and check articles, agreement, and clause structure before submitting.
