Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates make up 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. You also give a useful overview of staff helpfulness as the strongest satisfaction result. However, some key comparisons are incomplete or unclear. The combined share of academic staff and distance learners is correctly given as 17%, but the table’s lowest very-satisfied result is journals at 45%, not 20%; 20% is the not-satisfied figure. The overview also says journals have the lowest satisfaction without specifying which measure, and the wi-fi results are not meaningfully summarised. Include the opening-hours figures and distinguish satisfaction categories to make the report more complete and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the user categories and satisfaction table. This makes the two visuals easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “Additionally” help signal relationships. The organisation is coherent, but progression within the final paragraph is less controlled: it moves from staff helpfulness to books, journals, and wi-fi without consistently comparing the same satisfaction measure. The final sentence is also unfinished in form, which weakens the paragraph’s close. To strengthen cohesion, group the table results by a clear comparison—for example, highest very-satisfied ratings, then lower ratings—and use precise references to the relevant satisfaction category.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing proportions and comparisons, including “highest portion,” “most dominant group,” “share,” and “comparitively.” Some less common choices show an attempt to vary expression, but several are inaccurate or unnatural in context. “Responsible for the lowest share” does not mean that academic staff constitute the smallest group, and “occupied a quater portion” is an awkward collocation. There are also spelling errors in “comparitively,” “quater,” “combinely,” and “staisfied.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, but more precise, conventional chart language would improve clarity. Prefer expressions such as “accounted for,” “made up,” and “the proportion of users who were very satisfied.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause with “whilst” and a sentence beginning “while.” The main information is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement and sentence construction remain. For example, “academic staff responsible for the lowest share” lacks a finite verb, and “academic staff and distance learning holds” should use a plural verb. In “Reliability of wi-fi have a comparitively stable in all three section,” the verb pattern is faulty and the sentence does not form a complete grammatical statement. Articles and number marking also need attention, as in “full-time undergraduate” when referring to the group. Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and that plural subjects take plural verbs.
