Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The provided chart and table are the results of a survey conducted on library users at a university. The chart shows the categories of library users and the table displays user satisfaction upon using the library.
From the chart, it is visible there are 5 total types of library users which are: academic staff, distance learners of all courses, part-time postgraduates, full-time postgraduates and full-time undergraduates. The most of the library is occupied by full-time undergraduates. 44% of the userbase is undergraduates. Next in line are the full-time postgraduates, 25% belong in this category. Academic staff and distance learners make up total 15% together with 7% and 8% each respectively. Part-time postgaduates hold 16%. It can be said that full-time students utilize the library the most.
The table gives evidence about the user satisfaction of the library. This table was organized based on 5 factors. It is apparent that 65 and 35 out os a 100 users were vary satisfied and fairly satisfied respectively about the library opening hours. No one was dissatisfied abou this.
Helpfulness of the staff garnered the most satisfied users, 95%. 50% users were satisfied about the availability of books. It seems 40% were somewhat satisfied and 10% were not satisfied at all. They didn't find the books they wanted. This number grew double for unavailability of journals. The reliability of wifi was not satisfactory for 19 out of a 100 users. Only 48% found it satisfactory which is a low number for wi-fi.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user groups and report several key figures accurately, including the 44% share of full-time undergraduates, the 25% of full-time postgraduates, and the high satisfaction with staff. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the most important patterns across both visuals. The satisfaction data are only partly covered: for example, you omit the 5% fairly satisfied with staff and give limited comparison of the ratings for journals and wi-fi. Some interpretations are unsupported or imprecise, such as saying users “didn't find the books they wanted” and describing 48% as simply satisfied, although the table labels this “very satisfied.” A concise overview and more balanced reporting of the table would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response is organised into an introduction, a paragraph on user categories and a paragraph on satisfaction, so the reader can follow the two visuals. Sequencing within the first paragraph is generally clear, and phrases such as “Next in line” help signal comparisons. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some stronger progression. However, links between individual satisfaction figures are sometimes abrupt: the move from books to journals to wi-fi would be clearer if you compared the proportions systematically. Some references, such as “This number grew double,” are difficult to interpret, and repeated use of “the table” and “users” makes cohesion less flexible. Use clearer comparison phrases and ensure each reference has an unmistakable meaning.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for describing the visuals, including “categories,” “user satisfaction,” “availability,” and “reliability.” These terms help communicate the subject, and the response remains understandable. There are also attempts at more varied phrasing, such as “garnered the most satisfied users.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for formal data reporting: “the most of the library is occupied by” confuses users with physical space, while “userbase” and “grew double” are unsuitable or unclear. Spelling errors such as “postgaduates,” “vary,” and “abou” also reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and accurate collocations, particularly when describing percentages and satisfaction categories.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the relative clause in “which are” and the contrast in “although” is not needed here but could help connect comparisons. Most meanings can be understood, and errors do not generally prevent communication. Some grammatical problems remain, however. For example, “there are 5 total types … which are” is awkwardly constructed, and “65 and 35 out of a 100 users were” has an unclear subject and number pattern. In “50% users were satisfied,” the article is missing, while “This number grew double” has an incorrect grammatical construction. Work on articles, sentence framing for percentages, and clear comparative structures while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
