Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the largest user group correctly (full-time undergraduates, 44%) and note that academic staff form the smallest group (7%). You also select the staff-helpfulness figures, which are a useful feature to report. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: “Proportion of satisfaction of user is significantly higher” does not identify what is being compared, and the chart shows varied satisfaction rather than one overall high result. Some details are misreported or incomplete: 95% refers to users who were very satisfied with staff helpfulness, not students arriving in the early hours. The response also ends mid-sentence after “mod”, leaving the remaining satisfaction results unreported. Give a clear overview of the main patterns and accurately compare the other categories.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to user categories and then satisfaction results. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “In term of category” signal a change of focus. However, progression is weakened by unclear links and abrupt phrasing. The overview’s “whereas academic staff students are the opposite” does not clearly explain the contrast, while “But, there is contrast pattern” introduces a comparison that is not completed. The final sentence stops at “mod”, so the discussion has no proper conclusion. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs and connect each comparison explicitly—for example, contrast the high staff-helpfulness rating with the lower ratings for journals and wi-fi.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary suited to describing data, including “majority,” “percentage,” “satisfaction,” and “contrast.” These choices show awareness of the task’s subject. However, several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural and make the meaning harder to follow: “varieties of library audience,” “most busiest student category,” and “fairly satisfaction” are not appropriate collocations. Repetition of “students” also limits the range, especially when describing library users generally. Choose precise terms such as “user groups,” “largest category,” and “fairly satisfied,” and use “respondents” or “users” where appropriate. More accurate data-description vocabulary would help you express comparisons clearly without relying on awkward phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some attempts at complex sentence forms, such as “From an overall perspective, it can be seen that…” and “The least two groups … are only 8 and 7 percent respectively.” However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “The pie chart and table demonstrates” has subject–verb disagreement, and “44%, used by Full-time undergraduate student” is not a complete, correctly formed clause. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “Proportion of satisfaction of user” and “opposite.Proportion.” Aim first for accurate simple sentences, then build complexity with controlled clauses. Check agreement, sentence completion, and punctuation when editing.
