Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify both visuals and report several key figures accurately, including the largest user group (44% full-time undergraduates) and the 65%/35% split for opening-hours satisfaction. However, the response only partly summarises the main features: it gives no clear overall overview of the satisfaction results, and the final comparison is vague. For example, “near half” does not distinguish the figures for books, journals and Wi-Fi, while “short number” does not report the differing dissatisfied proportions. There is also a factual misinterpretation: the table reports satisfaction levels among library users, not specifically “students.” Select the strongest contrasts—such as staff helpfulness having the highest very-satisfied result and opening hours having no dissatisfied users—and state them clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on user categories and a paragraph on satisfaction. This helps the reader follow the two visuals. However, progression within the final paragraph is weak because several categories are compressed into one broad statement, and the discussion ends without a clear concluding overview. Linking words such as “while” are repeated and sometimes awkwardly attached to the preceding sentence, as in “fairly satisfied from this.95 percent…” and “satisfied with the staff copration while…”. Use separate, clearly organised comparisons—for example, one sentence for opening hours and staff, followed by another for books, journals and Wi-Fi—and check sentence boundaries and spacing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the general subject, including “categories,” “satisfaction,” “availability” and “reliability.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or imprecise. “Insights of a survey” is not a natural way to introduce the visuals, and “satisfied from” should be expressed with “satisfied with.” The phrase “short number” is unclear, while “staff copration” contains a spelling error and does not accurately describe the satisfaction rating. Repeated use of “shows” and “satisfied” also limits variety. More precise reporting language, such as “accounted for,” “rated,” and “the proportion who were dissatisfied,” would make comparisons clearer and more appropriate for an academic summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with some attempts to combine ideas using “while.” Errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the text awkward or difficult to follow. For example, “The chart and table shows” has subject–verb disagreement, and “shows that how many students…use” is an incorrectly formed clause. Several sentences run together or lack spaces after full stops, including “university. The” and “this.95 percent.” There are also problems with articles, plurals and agreement in phrases such as “8 percent distance learning…also uses library” and “95 percent of student are.” Practise accurate reporting structures such as “The chart shows that…” and “95% of users were…” before attempting longer linked sentences.
