Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. You also highlight the strongest satisfaction result, staff helpfulness, and correctly note that journals receive the highest dissatisfaction. These are relevant overview features. However, the satisfaction summary is incomplete: the response ends mid-sentence after “Almost half of them are satisfied with,” so key comparisons for books, journals and wi-fi are not fully reported. The claim that users are “not pleased at all” with journals also overstates the data, since 20% are not satisfied while 45% are very satisfied. Develop the overview and report the remaining notable satisfaction figures more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a paragraph on satisfaction. Sequencing within the user-category paragraph is generally logical, moving from the largest group to smaller groups, and linking words such as “After that,” “However” and “In addition” help guide the reader. Cohesion is occasionally awkward or unclear, though. For example, “they come into third place in terms of user” has an unclear reference, and the final paragraph stops before completing its comparison, disrupting the progression of information. Use more precise references and ensure each paragraph develops its point to a complete conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “dominate,” “dissatisfaction” and “availability,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. There are some inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision: “occupy the library” suggests physical space rather than user numbers, while “not pleased at all” is too strong for the journal figures. “Academic stuff” is also an unsuitable informal choice, and spelling errors such as “libary” and “dont” reduce accuracy. Aim for consistent, neutral chart language and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe groups as accounting for a share of users and distinguish dissatisfaction from the proportion who are very satisfied.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “whereas academic staff are seen in the least number” and the clause beginning “where academic staff stands as the lowest proportion.” Most meanings remain understandable, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. The opening uses singular “chart and table” with “illustrates,” although the subject is plural; “part-time postgraduate dont use library” is missing an apostrophe and articles; and the sentence beginning “However, part-time postgraduate…” joins two independent clauses with only a comma. There are also agreement and number issues in “academic staff stands” and “library user.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at varied structures.
