Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses both visuals and gives a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, while staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction rating and journal availability the weakest. The figures reported are accurate, and the response makes relevant comparisons, including the contrast between 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and 45% with journals. This supports a well-focused summary of the main features. To strengthen the account further, make the overview more precise: journals have the highest proportion of users who are not satisfied (20%), while opening hours have none, a useful contrast that is not highlighted. Also clarify that the percentages describe survey respondents or ratings, rather than implying that the library staff themselves “got” a rating.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information is organised in a clear progression: an introduction, an overview, the user categories, and then satisfaction results. Paragraphing helps distinguish the two visuals, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking at the details,” and “Lastly” guide the reader through the report. The comparisons are generally easy to follow. Some transitions are repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “while” and “However,” and the final paragraph becomes a sequence of individual figures rather than grouping related results. For a more polished progression, compare the strongest and weakest satisfaction areas together, then summarise the remaining categories, using clearer references to each rating dimension.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for describing the charts, and terms such as “proportion,” “availability,” “very satisfied,” and “fairly satisfied” help convey the data accurately. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language. However, several choices are imprecise or awkward: “cover almost half of the proportion” is redundant, “get the highest rating” is informal, and “library staff got 95% rating” does not clearly identify whose satisfaction is being measured. Spelling also needs attention in “Helpfullness.” Aim for concise, conventional chart language and accurate collocations; this will make the report sound more natural without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while” and “although,” and the meaning remains clear throughout. Some grammatical errors persist, especially subject–verb agreement: “The chart and table provides” should be “provide,” “people who uses” should be “people who use,” and “students uses” should be “students use.” There are also article and number-pattern issues in phrases such as “44% users” and “the undergraduate program,” where “of users” and a more precise plural reference would be appropriate. Review agreement in sentences with plural subjects and use consistent noun phrases when reporting percentages. These corrections would improve accuracy while preserving the report’s clear structure.
