Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both visuals and identify the main contrasts: undergraduates form the largest user group at 44%, while academic staff are the smallest at 7%; you also note that staff helpfulness has the strongest satisfaction and journals the greatest dissatisfaction. Most figures are reported accurately, including the satisfaction breakdowns. This meets the task well, with some features developed more fully than others. The overview is present, but “satisfaction percentage are higher” is imprecise because it does not distinguish very satisfied from overall satisfaction. You could make the overview more informative by comparing the high ratings for staff and opening hours with the more mixed views of books, journals and wi-fi, and by clarifying that the table reports three satisfaction categories.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the two visuals. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly “second higher,” “second larger,” and the long final paragraph, which lists several figures in succession. The sentence beginning “In the library users” also makes the relationship between the categories difficult to follow. Grouping the satisfaction results into more and less positive items, and using clearer comparisons such as “by contrast” or “whereas,” would improve progression. Check that each sentence has a clear subject and that punctuation separates the comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “accounted,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repeated. For example, “larger contribution” is not a natural way to describe a share of library users, and “fairy satisfied” is repeated where “fairly satisfied” is intended. There are also spelling errors such as “catergories,” “higest,” “jourals,” and “Libray,” which reduce precision. Aim for accurate, varied terms such as “proportion,” “largest group,” and “dissatisfied,” and proofread spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main information is usually recoverable. However, control is uneven: the opening says “The pie chart and the table illustrates,” where the plural subject requires “illustrate,” and “the full-time undergraduate accounted” needs a clearer grammatical construction, such as “full-time undergraduates accounted for.” Several clauses are joined without clear structure, as in “Distance learning are Academic staff have 1% difference,” and the final paragraph contains a run-on transition: “not satisfied.However”. Articles, plurals and agreement also need attention. Use shorter, complete sentences when listing figures, then add a controlled comparison clause to demonstrate range without sacrificing accuracy.
