Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. You also select relevant satisfaction results, including the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the 19% not satisfied with Wi-Fi. The overview gives a useful broad comparison, but it is not fully precise: Wi-Fi has the highest dissatisfaction only narrowly, since journals score 20% not satisfied. Several figures and categories are omitted, including distance learners and opening hours, and the table discussion does not consistently distinguish “very satisfied” from overall satisfaction. Covering the main patterns more fully and describing the comparisons precisely would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This makes the two visual elements easy to identify, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In addition” help signal progression. However, the links between ideas are sometimes mechanical, and some references are unclear—for example, “16% students of average use” does not clearly explain the category or its comparison. The table paragraph moves from staff helpfulness to Wi-Fi and then journals without a consistent organising principle. Grouping the satisfaction results by strongest positive response and greatest dissatisfaction, and using clearer comparisons between categories, would make the progression more cohesive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “library users,” “availability,” and “satisfied,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, such as “perporstion,” “satisfed,” “setisfied,” and “statified.” Several phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “helpful nature of staff,” “average use of library,” and “fully not satied” make the intended meaning less clear. The repeated use of “people” and “users” also limits variety. Aim for accurate collocations and standard chart language, such as “accounted for,” “were very satisfied,” and “reported dissatisfaction”; careful proofreading would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in “full-time undergraduate student are highest, whereas…” and a relative clause in “students who are doing part-time postgraduate.” The main ideas can usually be followed, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “while in table shows” is missing a subject and article, and “full-time student are the 44%” has agreement and article problems. In “20% people is fully not satied,” the plural subject does not agree with “is,” and the sentence structure is awkward. Work on complete clauses, subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms, while keeping sentence patterns varied and controlled.
