Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share at 44%, while academic staff are the smallest at 7%. You also note that staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction, and that journals and Wi-Fi attract more dissatisfaction. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the satisfaction discussion stops at “Regarding to satisfaction, most applicants,” so the table’s key comparisons are not reported. For example, staff helpfulness is 95% very satisfied, while opening hours are 65%; journals have the highest dissatisfaction at 20%. The user-category figures for full-time postgraduates (25%) are also omitted. The response is 27 words below the required minimum, which contributes to the limited coverage. Develop the overview and report several precise comparisons from both visuals.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and the start of a satisfaction paragraph. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In contrast” signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is incomplete because the final paragraph ends mid-thought, leaving the table largely unaddressed. Some linking is also awkward or unclear, as in “While Full-time postgraduate students also have significant amount … following Part-time postgraduate participants,” where the comparison is difficult to follow. Group the category figures in a complete paragraph, then present the satisfaction comparisons in another, using clear links such as “by comparison” and “whereas.” This would make the organisation more complete and reduce the impression of disconnected statements.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “satisfaction level,” “largest,” and “dissatisfaction,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural: “a data according categories,” “least part,” and “significant amount of library visitors” are examples. “Fully satisfy” is also not the natural form for describing survey responses; “very satisfied” is more precise and matches the table’s category. There are spelling or form issues such as “undergrade,” and “larger then” should be expressed with the appropriate comparative wording. Aim for accurate chart language such as “accounted for,” “represented,” and “the smallest proportion,” rather than forcing less suitable phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some sentence variety, including a contrast with “While” and a comparison using “which,” but complex sentences are often faulty and the range remains limited. Errors occur in basic sentence patterns and agreement: “The pie chart and table provide a data” lacks a correct noun phrase, while “which collected from a survey” is missing a finite verb and an appropriate construction. The sentence beginning “While Full-time postgraduate students…” is a dependent clause without a complete main clause. There are also problems with articles, prepositions, and comparative structures, as in “According to satisfaction” and “larger then Distance learning students by 8 percent.” Practise complete subject–verb sentences and check each clause for a main verb. Shorter, accurate comparisons would improve clarity before you attempt more complex structures.
