Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify both visuals and include several relevant figures, especially the 44% share of full-time undergraduates and the 95% satisfaction with staff helpfulness. However, the overview is unclear and includes an unsupported claim that undergraduates “mostly read books”; the chart shows user categories, not reading habits. Some comparisons are also inaccurate or incomplete: 45% is the very-satisfied figure for journals, not the proportion who are least satisfied, and “half satisfied with book” does not distinguish the 50% who are very satisfied from the 40% fairly satisfied. Report the main patterns across both visuals more precisely, such as staff helpfulness receiving the strongest satisfaction and journals having the highest dissatisfaction. The response addresses the task only partially, with key information under-developed or misinterpreted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and separate discussion of user categories and satisfaction. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and the overview does not effectively guide the report. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “Whereas,” and “And” are sometimes used mechanically or in fragments, while “In addition hoghly use…” does not clearly link to the preceding point. The final paragraph moves between staff, journals, and books without a consistent comparison pattern. Grouping the satisfaction results by strongest and weakest ratings, and using clear links such as “By contrast” only where appropriate, would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categories,” “satisfied,” and “helpfulness,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning awkward: “table chart,” “mostly read books,” “highly use,” and “hate that staff” do not accurately express the intended survey information. There are also spelling errors, including “libaray” and “hoghly.” Aim for precise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “the largest group,” and “were dissatisfied with.” Repeating “users,” “students,” and “satisfied” also limits variety. More accurate vocabulary for proportions and satisfaction levels would improve clarity and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer structures, including “Whereas academic staff and distance learning are less use…” and “Moreover learner are not satisfied with journals,” but these are not controlled successfully. Errors in agreement and sentence structure occur frequently: “pie chart describe,” “table chart show,” and “Full-time undergraduate students is” need correctly matched subjects and verbs. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “with book” and “one forth section,” and some clauses are incomplete, such as the sentence beginning “Whereas.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns, with limited accurate complex construction. Practise building complete comparisons with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
