Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The provided pie chart depicts the percentages users distinguished by five different categories and the table illustrates the ratio of users satisfaction of a university library .
Overall ,it can be seen that full-time undergraduate reported the highest portion of users among five categories , while academic staff and disyance learners occupy the lowest proportion of all the categories . From figure 2 , students are very satisfied with the helpfulness of staff and library opening hours , whereas that of for availability of journals and wi-fi represent that learners are not satisfied with that .

Following that 25% users come from full-time postgraduate students .Distance leraners recorded at 8% ,compared to part-time postgraduate , which was double at 16% . Finally , only 7% accounted for the academic staff.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both visuals and give a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest group, while academic staff and distance learners are the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction rating. The figures you report are accurate, and the response includes useful comparisons across the satisfaction categories. This meets the task well, with some features more fully reported than others. The overview could be more precise: saying users are “not satisfied” with journals and wi-fi overstates the result, since 45% and 48% are very satisfied and only 20% and 19% are dissatisfied. Also, the table’s main contrast—that no respondents were dissatisfied with opening hours or staff helpfulness—would strengthen the summary. Prioritise these key patterns rather than describing every figure equally.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a coherent route through both visuals, and sequencing expressions such as “Following that” and “Regarding figure 2” help signal shifts. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. “From figure 2” and “whereas that of for availability…” make the overview difficult to follow, while the final paragraph strings several comparisons together in one long sentence. Use clearer topic sentences and divide the satisfaction data into manageable comparisons—for example, first the strongest ratings, then books, journals and wi-fi. More precise referencing would also make relationships between figures easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “percentages,” “proportion,” “accounted for,” and “dissatisfied,” so the main information is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “ratio of users satisfaction,” “users distinguished by five different categories,” and “occupied relatively same percentages” are not natural descriptions of the data. Spelling slips such as “disyance,” “leraners” and “openig” further reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and check spelling carefully; accurate, natural phrases will be more effective than varied but uncertain wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and a relative clause in “which stood at almost half of the total users.” The overall meaning can usually be followed, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “most of the users satisfied” needs a verb such as “were,” and “25% users come” needs an article and consistent past-tense reporting. The construction “whereas that of for availability…” is also structurally unclear. Punctuation and spacing around commas are inconsistent, and several sentences run together multiple comparisons. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, articles and complete clause structures, then use shorter sentences where a long construction becomes difficult to control.
