Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the largest user group correctly as full-time undergraduates (44%) and report the smaller groups, as well as the high satisfaction with staff helpfulness. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: “the lowest user had not satisfied” does not identify the lowest satisfaction result, which is 0% for opening hours and staff helpfulness. The response also omits several important comparisons, including the 65% very satisfied with opening hours and the relatively high dissatisfaction with journals (20%). The table’s figures are reported selectively, and the response is under the required 150 words, limiting its coverage further. Add a clear overview and select key figures across both visuals to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, useful structure: an opening overview is followed by a paragraph about user categories and one about satisfaction. This helps the reader distinguish the chart from the table. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and repeated openings such as “The context of chart” and “The context of table” make the organisation feel mechanical. Some links between ideas are unclear, particularly “While highest had very satisfied user” and “The fairly satisfied of availability of books.” Use complete topic sentences and connect comparisons explicitly—for example, contrast the highest satisfaction result with the lower ratings for journals and wi-fi. Clearer referencing would also help readers understand which category or satisfaction measure each statement describes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “survey,” “categories,” “full-time undergraduate,” “very satisfied,” and “not satisfied,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “high library categories people,” “second grow library users,” and “low library user.” These expressions make comparisons difficult to interpret. Spelling errors, including “liabrary,” “undergradute,” and “avilabilitu,” also reduce accuracy. Build a small set of precise chart-reporting expressions, such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “the share who were dissatisfied,” and check spelling and collocations before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few longer structures, including “Overall it is clear that…” and “The lowest categories library people has…,” but most sentences rely on basic patterns, and errors frequently affect clarity. Examples include missing articles in “results of survey,” incorrect agreement in “categories … has,” and incomplete constructions such as “While highest had very satisfied user.” The sentence “The fairly satisfied of availability of books at around 40%” has no clear main verb, while punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use accurate comparison patterns such as “The largest group was…” and “Forty per cent were fairly satisfied with…”.
