Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify two relevant headline points: full-time undergraduates form the largest user group, while academic staff are the smallest, and you note that staff helpfulness receives strong satisfaction and journals attract dissatisfaction. However, the account is only partial and several comparisons are unclear or inaccurate. The chart gives undergraduates 44%, not quite half, and part-time postgraduates are not described as “average”; they account for 16%, compared with 25% for full-time postgraduates. The table’s strongest result is 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness, while 20% are not satisfied with journals, the highest dissatisfied share. Include these figures and cover other key results, such as opening hours, to make the summary more informative and precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate opening, overview, and detail paragraphs, and phrases such as “Overall,” “First of all,” and “on the other hand” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the progression is limited: the opening and overview repeat the same general statement, and the final paragraph moves between satisfaction categories without a clear sequence. The contrast marker “on the other hand” is also used where the relationship between the ideas is not fully explained. Organise the details into a clear comparison of user categories followed by satisfaction results, grouping the highest and lowest figures together. Avoid repeating the introduction in the overview, and use linking expressions only when they accurately show contrast or addition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “categories,” “percentage,” “satisfaction,” and “availability,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the account difficult to interpret. For example, “the average on the survey” does not clearly describe the 16% share, and “people’s are felling satisfaction” is not a natural way to report survey responses. There are also spelling errors such as “sasified.” Aim for precise chart language, including “accounted for,” “share,” and “were very satisfied,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences and use clauses with “while” and “which,” but these structures are often faulty, and the range remains limited. The opening has a subject–verb agreement error in “The chart and table shows,” as well as a missing space in “ofsurvey.” In “among the categories … there is maximum number is,” the sentence structure breaks down, while “The percentage … have various options” has an agreement problem and an unclear construction. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise writing shorter, controlled comparisons first, then combine them using accurate clauses—for example, “Full-time undergraduates made up 44% of users, whereas academic staff accounted for 7%.”
