Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, followed by full-time postgraduates at 25%. You also report several satisfaction figures, including staff helpfulness and journal satisfaction. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: saying users are generally satisfied with “helpful staff” and opening hours overlooks that the table shows 65% very satisfied with opening hours, while the claim about scholars is not supported by the chart. The figure for opening hours is written as “655” rather than 65%, and the description of book satisfaction focuses only on the 40% who are fairly satisfied. Select the strongest comparisons and state them precisely to make the key features clearer and more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the two visuals. Some connections, however, are awkward or unclear. For example, “Although people who used library are scholars” does not clearly link the user categories to the satisfaction findings, and “respectfully” is used where a comparison is intended. The final paragraph also moves quickly between satisfaction categories without consistently distinguishing very satisfied, fairly satisfied and not satisfied. Use clearer topic sentences and organise the table figures by the most notable positive and negative results; this would make progression more logical and cohesion less dependent on basic linking words.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “part-time postgraduates,” “availability of books” and “reliability of wifi.” This is enough to communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several word-choice or spelling errors reduce precision. Examples include “maximum sers,” “helpfull staff,” “scholars” for library users, and “respectfully” instead of “respectively.” “Maximum users satisfied” is also an unnatural way to describe the highest satisfaction figure. Aim for accurate reporting language such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “were very satisfied.” Check spelling and use terms that match the chart’s labels so the reader can follow the comparisons without hesitation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the contrast beginning “Although” and the comparison introduced by “while.” The main ideas are usually understandable, but errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms are noticeable. For instance, “The chart clearly show” needs subject–verb agreement, while “people who used library” is missing an article and “the distance learning and academic staff are use library” combines incompatible verb forms. The opening also needs “a university library.” Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly the missing space after the comma in “44%,which.” Practise accurate present-tense reporting structures and check articles, agreement and verb forms; these corrections would make your range more effective.
