The chart and table below show the results of a survey of library users at a university.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates the proportion of different categories of library users, meanwhile the table shows the percentage of library user satisfaction.
Overall, full-time undergraduate utilizes the university's library the most and the academic staff of the university uses it the least. And also the proportion of "not satisfied" users are comparitively low than the "satisfied" and " fairly satisfied" users.
Academic staff from the university has the lowest share amongst all the library users with only 7% , followed by the distance learners(all courses) with 8% users. The "part-time postgraduates" and "full-time postgraduates" with constitution of 16% and 25% share respectively. Lastly, the category with the most number of active library users is "full-time undergraduates".
There is no user with dissatisfaction about the library opening hours and the staffs , they are helpful and friendly and thus the satisfaction rate for the "helpfulness of staff" has the highest percentage with 95% of fully satisfied users and 35% fairly satisfied.Availability of journals and books has to be taken care of as that does have 20% and 10% of unsatisfied members.
Reliabity of wifi is not very satisfied by almost 20% of the users.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both visuals and identify the main user group and the smallest group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff make up 7%. You also note the generally positive satisfaction pattern and highlight areas with dissatisfaction. However, some details are incomplete or inaccurate. The overview says dissatisfaction is low, but does not identify the strongest satisfaction results, especially staff helpfulness at 95% very satisfied. You state that opening hours and staff have no dissatisfied users, which is correct, but then give 35% fairly satisfied for staff; the table shows 5%, while 35% applies to opening hours. The final comment on Wi-Fi is also imprecise. Select and compare the key figures more carefully and develop the overview with the clearest contrasts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This makes the two visuals easy to distinguish overall. Some progression is weakened by abrupt or unclear connections, however. The overview begins a new sentence with “And also,” and the final paragraph moves from opening hours to staff, then books and journals, and finally Wi-Fi without a clear organising principle. Linking expressions such as “followed by” help sequence the user categories, but the satisfaction details would be clearer if grouped by high satisfaction and areas of concern. Use complete, connected sentences and make each paragraph’s focus explicit; this would improve the flow without requiring more linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing proportions and satisfaction, including “share,” “lowest,” “fully satisfied,” and “unsatisfied.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “constitution of 16%,” but this is not a natural collocation in this context. Several word choices or forms reduce precision: “active library users” is not established by the chart, “comparitively” and “Reliabity” are misspelled, and “not very satisfied by” is an awkward way to describe the Wi-Fi result. “Utilizes” is also less suitable than a neutral description of the group’s proportion. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling, especially in key terms and labels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, sentence boundaries, and punctuation. For example, “full-time undergraduate utilizes” needs a plural subject or a singular group noun, while “Academic staff … has” should use a plural verb in this context. The overview’s “And also” creates a sentence fragment, and the long sentence beginning “There is no user…” joins several ideas with a comma rather than clear sentence boundaries. There are also missing spaces after full stops and commas. Use a mix of concise sentences and controlled complex structures, checking subject–verb agreement and punctuation during revision.
