Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both visuals and report the main category figures accurately: full-time undergraduates are the largest group at 44%, while academic staff are the smallest at 7%. You also include the satisfaction results for all five services, and your overview correctly identifies staff helpfulness as the strongest result. However, the overview’s claim that wi-fi is the lowest-rated feature is not quite accurate: journals have the lowest very-satisfied share (45%) and the highest not-satisfied share (20%). The response would be clearer if it compared the satisfaction patterns directly—for example, noting that opening hours and staff helpfulness received no dissatisfied responses, unlike the other services. Some details are listed without explaining their significance, so the main features are not equally well developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: it discusses the user categories, then satisfaction data, and ends with an overview. This makes the two visuals easy to distinguish. However, progression within paragraphs is often a sequence of individual figures rather than a comparison of related results. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “Nevertheless” recur frequently, sometimes where no contrast is being made, which makes the linking mechanical. References such as “its” are also unclear, particularly in the satisfaction section, where the reader must infer which service or rating is meant. Grouping the strongest results together and then comparing the weaker ones would create a clearer line of development and reduce repetitive transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “availability of journals,” “helpfulness of staff,” and “reliability of wi-fi,” so the subject is generally clear. However, the range of language for describing data is limited, and repeated wording such as “have,” “is,” “highest,” and “lowest users” makes the report sound repetitive or imprecise. Several spelling errors—“survery,” “postgraudate,” “postgraguate,” and “availbility”—also reduce accuracy. Some phrases do not fit the information: “highest library users” refers to the largest user category, while “highest satisfaction” is the intended comparison in the table. Use precise terms such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” and “satisfaction rating” to describe the figures more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most information can be understood, and you attempt to organise it into complete statements. However, sentence structures are mostly simple and repetitive, with limited use of accurate complex forms. There are recurring problems with subject–verb agreement and sentence construction, as in “This table show” and “full-time postgraduate have 25%.” Articles and possessives are also awkward in phrases such as “the (fairly satisfied) have 35%.” Punctuation is inconsistent: several sentences run directly into the next after a percentage, as in “65%.Neverthless,” and spaces are missing after full stops. Aim for clear patterns such as “The proportion who were very satisfied with opening hours was 65%,” and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
