Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the largest user group, full-time undergraduates at 44%, and note that staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction rating. These are relevant main features, and you also attempt to cover both the chart and table. However, the overview is unclear and includes a factual error: distance learners account for 8%, not 7%; academic staff are 7%. The table is only partly reported, and the statement that 40% were fairly satisfied with book availability is inaccurate—the figure is 40%, while 50% were very satisfied. The claim that opening hours and staff helpfulness had dissatisfied users is also incorrect, as both recorded 0%. Select the key comparisons accurately and give a clear overview of the highest and lowest results.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate paragraphs for an introduction, an overview, the chart and the table, so there is some organisation and the reader can recognise the two data sources. However, progression is weak: the overview mixes several details without a clear comparison, and the final paragraph moves between satisfaction categories and services without explaining the figures consistently. Linking words such as “Overall,” “Furthermore,” and “Therefore” are used, but some do not show a logical relationship between the ideas. Improve cohesion by grouping related information, for example, user categories in one paragraph and satisfaction results in another, and use clear references such as “this figure” only when the referent is unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “distance learning,” “satisfaction level,” and “availability of books.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make parts difficult to understand, such as “larg percentage,” “lower account user,” and “lower service of availbility of journal.” Repeated use of “user” and “satisfied” also limits precision. Aim for standard chart language and accurate forms: describe a group as “accounting for” a percentage, and say that a service “received” a satisfaction rating. Proofreading spelling and choosing natural collocations would make your comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt longer sentences and use some subordinate structures, for example, “whereas the full time postgraduate has 25%,” but many sentences contain errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation. The opening, “The chart and table illustrated the information how many library user,” lacks a grammatical structure for introducing the data. In “the full time undergraduate candiate have higher account,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence pattern is incomplete. Several fragments and run-on constructions also appear, particularly in the overview and final paragraph. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check singular/plural forms and punctuation before adding more complex clauses.
