Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the largest user group, full-time undergraduates at 44%, and the smallest, academic staff at 7%, and you include several satisfaction figures. However, the overview is unclear and contains a major data error: you say full-time postgraduates at 25% are “less than 19% undergraduate library users,” although undergraduates account for 44% and no 19% undergraduate figure appears. The satisfaction summary is also incomplete: the response stops after books and omits the results for journals and Wi-Fi, which are important features of the table. The claim that 65% are “satisfied” with opening hours blurs the distinction between very and fairly satisfied. Select the main comparisons accurately and cover both visuals more evenly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: it introduces the pie chart, gives a general statement, and then turns to satisfaction data. This provides some organisation, but progression is limited because the overview mixes user-category figures with an unclear comparison, and the final paragraph ends abruptly after one detail about books. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Meanwhile,” and “Although” show an attempt to connect ideas, but some are awkward or do not clarify the relationship between the figures. For example, “The same thing apply” does not clearly explain how the staff-helpfulness results compare with opening hours. Group the user categories together, then summarise and compare the satisfaction results in a complete, logically ordered section.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “distribution,” “proportion,” “satisfaction,” and “opening hours,” so the reader can generally identify the subject of each point. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. “Library useres” and “fairely satisfied” contain noticeable spelling errors, while “the university shares the almost same number” is not a natural way to describe the 7% share. “0% satisfaction” is also less precise than saying that nobody was not satisfied. Use consistent terms such as “share,” “accounted for,” and “respondents,” and distinguish “very satisfied” from “fairly satisfied” rather than using “satisfied” for both.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer structures, including “Although 5% mentions they are fairly satisfied but also 95% users are quite satisfied,” but complex sentences are often faulty and the overall range remains limited. There are recurring problems with agreement and sentence construction: “25% represents” should be “25% represent” or “full-time postgraduates accounted for 25%,” and “The same thing apply” needs “applies.” The opening overview, “Overall the as mentioned in the pie chart…,” is incomplete and difficult to parse. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Build clearer sentences around one comparison at a time, checking subject–verb agreement and using accurate sentence boundaries.
