Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, while academic staff are the smallest group at 7%. You also note that staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction result. However, the response only partly summarises the table: it omits several important comparisons, including the 65% very satisfied with opening hours and the lower satisfaction figures for journals and Wi-Fi. The claim that journal availability is the least satisfying feature is not fully supported, since Wi-Fi has a slightly higher dissatisfied share (19% versus 20% for journals, so journals are marginally worse) but the response gives no figures. The overview is limited, and the response is three words below the required minimum. Include a concise overview and report key contrasts across both visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs for the user categories and satisfaction results. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph repeats the point that users are most satisfied with staff helpfulness and least satisfied with journals, already stated in the overview, without adding the other table findings. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “At a glance,” and “According to the table” help signal sections, but their use feels repetitive and does not create strong connections between comparisons. The final isolated “I” also interrupts the ending. Group the satisfaction results into a clear comparison and ensure every paragraph develops the summary.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categories,” “satisfaction,” and “accounts for,” and the meaning is generally understandable. Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, however: “the pie chart elaborates” is not a natural way to introduce data, and “staffs behaviour” does not accurately describe the table’s category, which is helpfulness of staff. There are also spelling or word-form problems such as “availably” and inconsistent forms of “part time post graduates.” Repetition of “percentage” and “satisfied” limits flexibility. Use precise chart language and the exact labels from the table, and vary expressions for proportions and satisfaction levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and several sentences communicate the data clearly, such as “the undergraduate students share the highest percentage of 44%.” However, control is uneven. The opening sentence has an awkward structure (“The given pie chart elaborates…”), and the overview sentence beginning “According to the table given” lacks clear punctuation between the two claims. There are also agreement and article issues, for example “the academic staff shares the minor percentage” and “the users are most satisfied with the staffs behaviour.” The final standalone “I” is an incomplete fragment. Check subject–verb agreement, sentence boundaries and possessive forms, and proofread the ending so that each sentence is complete.
