Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group accurately: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, followed by full-time postgraduates at 25%, and you note that academic staff and distance learners are the smallest groups. However, the overview is partly unclear: the claim that “availability of journals and reliability of wifi was less used by students for satisfaction” does not accurately describe the satisfaction results. The table shows high satisfaction with staff helpfulness (95%) and opening hours (65%), while journals receive the lowest very-satisfied figure (45%) and the highest dissatisfaction (20%). You report only the first two table categories, leaving books, journals and Wi-Fi unaddressed. Select and compare the key satisfaction patterns, and make the overview precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to the pie chart and then the table. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “followed by” help show ranking. However, progression is weakened by the repeated “Moving ahead,” and the table discussion stops after two rows rather than developing a complete comparison. The overview also combines unrelated points in a confusing sentence, making the relationship between journal availability and Wi-Fi unclear. Paragraphing and transitions should guide the reader through both visuals: group the user categories together, then compare the strongest and weakest satisfaction results. Use linking expressions selectively and ensure each sentence adds a distinct feature.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categories,” “accounted for,” and “fairly satisfied,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision. For example, “satisfaction level” would be more natural as “levels of satisfaction,” while “library students” is not an accurate label for library users. “Without any satisfaction” is also unclear, especially when the figures refer to people who were fairly satisfied. Errors such as “saisfaction,” “constrast,” “realiability” and “helpfullness” are noticeable. Build a more accurate set of chart-description phrases and check spelling, particularly in repeated key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer structures, including “full time undergraduates and Full time postgraduates accounted for the highest categories,” but control is inconsistent. Subject–verb agreement errors occur in “The pie and table charts illustrates” and “helpfullness of staff were.” Some sentence patterns are incomplete or awkwardly formed, as in “Part time postgraduate users seen at 16%” and “the number … amounted for 65.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also unreliable: the overview begins with a lower-case “overall,” and several clauses run together without clear separation. These errors sometimes make the intended comparison difficult to follow. Practise complete subject–verb sentences and use a consistent pattern such as “X accounted for Y%” or “Y% were very satisfied with X.”
