The set of chart illustrates information regarding the result of a survey of library users at a university. The pie chart shows categories of library users, while table chart depicts proportion of user satisfaction.

Overall, it is readily apparent that highest categories of liberary users were full-time undergarduate and full-time postgarduate students, whereas least number of users were Academic staff. Apart from this highest number of proportion satisfied with helpfullness of staff, while least number not satisfied with availability of journals.

To begin with, the total number of library users categories were full-time undergarduate, full-time postgraduate and part-time postgraduate, the percentage were 44%, 25% and 16% while, less number of student categories were distance learning and academic staff, with 8% and 7%.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main user groups and report their proportions accurately, including the dominance of full-time undergraduates (44%) and the small shares of academic staff (7%) and distance learners (8%). You also select relevant satisfaction results, especially the high rating for staff helpfulness and the absence of dissatisfaction with opening hours. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not clearly summarise the overall satisfaction pattern, and the claim that journals had the “least number not satisfied” is inaccurate, since opening hours and staff helpfulness both had 0% not satisfied. The final sentence is unfinished, leaving the figures for fairly satisfied users unclear. To strengthen the response, give a complete overview and report comparisons precisely across all five facilities.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for user categories and satisfaction results. This helps the reader distinguish the two sets of information. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and some links are unclear or mechanical. For example, “On the other hand” does not mark a clear contrast, while the long final sentence combines several satisfaction categories without explaining their relationships. The ending, “such as,” is incomplete and makes the final information feel abruptly cut off. Use clearer grouping—for example, compare the strongest positive ratings first, then the areas with higher dissatisfaction—and ensure each sentence completes one comparison before moving to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “categories,” “proportion,” “satisfied,” and “availability,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the report awkward: “table chart,” “the number of user were most satisfied,” and “the number of satisfaction” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “liberary,” “undergardu ate,” “helpfullness,” and “farily” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise reporting language and check spelling carefully. Phrases such as “the percentage of users,” “the highest satisfaction rating,” and “fairly satisfied” would make the comparisons clearer and more appropriate for an academic summary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “whereas” and a clause beginning “while.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentence structures make the relationships between figures difficult to follow. For example, “The set of chart illustrates” has a subject–verb and article problem, while “the total number of library users categories were” is not a well-formed sentence. In “the percentage were 44%, 25% and 16%,” the subject and verb do not agree. The final sentence is also incomplete. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with clear subjects and verbs, such as “Full-time undergraduates accounted for 44% of users, compared with 25% for full-time postgraduates.”
