Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, followed by full-time postgraduates at 25%. You also select useful satisfaction findings, especially the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the comparatively high dissatisfaction with journals. The overview gives a clear sense of the largest and smallest user groups and the strongest and weakest satisfaction results. However, the category figures are not fully accurate: academic staff and distance learners together make up 15%, but you call them the “minor sector” without distinguishing that academic staff alone are 7% and distance learners 8%. The account also omits opening hours and books, so the satisfaction data are covered less fully than the user categories. Include these results and compare them briefly to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a final paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the two visuals, and linking phrases such as “To begin with” and “Furthermore” help signal progression. The overview also usefully previews the main contrasts. However, some transitions are mechanical or incorrectly formed, such as “alongside with,” and the final paragraph combines several satisfaction results in a long sequence, making comparisons harder to follow. Punctuation and spacing also weaken the flow, for example “sectors.while” and “behaviour, users.” Use separate sentences and organise the satisfaction findings into clearer comparisons, while keeping the overview distinct from supporting details.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “proportion,” “dominant sector,” “contributing,” and “satisfaction level,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. There is some attempt to vary wording rather than repeat “users” throughout. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable, including “palys,” “avaliblility,” “acadenic,” and “satuisfied.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “uses most of the library” suggests frequency or quantity of use rather than the share of users, while “staff behaviour” does not precisely match the table’s “helpfulness of staff.” Aim for accurate chart language and collocations, such as “accounted for,” “share of users,” and “satisfaction with staff helpfulness,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses linked with “while” and “that,” and the main figures are usually understandable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in sentence boundaries, agreement and verb forms. For example, “The given image illustrate” needs subject–verb agreement, and “full-time postgraduate that contributing 25%” has an incomplete relative clause and faulty verb form. The opening overview also runs two clauses together after “sectors.while,” while the final paragraph contains a long sentence joined mainly by commas. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas less clear. Practise accurate sentence patterns such as “Full-time postgraduates accounted for 25%” and use full stops to separate comparisons; check articles and plural forms as well.
