Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The provided figures illustrate the different types of library users and their satisfaction at a university.
Overall, Amongst the users, full-time undergraduate students have the largest portion of the pie chart, academic staff uses the least. A library user satisfaction is highest with the helpfulness of the staff and least about availability of journals.
Full-time undergraduate users have the largest proportion among the users with 44%, followed by full-time postgraduate students with a quarter. Academic staff used the library least and it was 7%. Less than one out of 5 part-time postgraduate student used the library and distant learning students used exactly half compared to part-time postgraduate students with 8%.
Staff helpfulness was very satisfied among 95% users. two out of three people highly satisfied with opening hours of the library. half of the members highly satisfied about book availability while, one out of ten people were not satisfied. Availability of journals and reliability of wi-fi was not satisfactory to 20% of users

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both parts of the visual and give a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, while academic staff are the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction. Most figures are reported accurately, including 44%, 25%, 7%, and the 95% very satisfied with staff. The comparison that distance learners were “exactly half” the part-time postgraduate group is also correct. However, the overview’s claim that satisfaction is “least about availability of journals” is not fully precise: journals have the lowest very-satisfied share, but wi-fi has a slightly higher dissatisfied share (19% versus 20% for journals, so journals are indeed highest in dissatisfaction). Some table details are underdeveloped, especially the 0% dissatisfied for opening hours and staff helpfulness. More precise comparisons across all satisfaction categories would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a sensible overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and one on satisfaction. This makes the two visuals easy to distinguish, and sequencing within the user-group paragraph is generally clear, moving from the largest category to smaller ones. The overview also helps the reader identify the main patterns. Some cohesion is less controlled, however. “Overall, Amongst” has an unnecessary capitalisation and awkward transition, while the final paragraph strings together several figures without a clear comparison framework. The sentence beginning “Availability of journals and reliability of wi-fi” also groups two categories together without explaining their different results. Use clearer links such as “By contrast” and organise the satisfaction data by strongest and weakest results.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of task-relevant vocabulary, including “largest proportion,” “followed by,” “satisfaction,” and “not satisfied,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also useful attempts to vary expression, such as “one out of ten” and “two out of three.” Some choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing charts: “uses the least” and “used the library least” would be better expressed as the smallest user group, while “highly satisfied about book availability” is an awkward collocation. “Distant learning” is also an inaccurate form of the category label, and “portion” is less suitable than “proportion” here. More consistent use of precise chart language would improve flexibility and accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and most of the information remains understandable. For example, the sentence comparing distance learners with part-time postgraduates communicates the intended relationship. However, some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make the phrasing awkward. In “academic staff uses the least,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “A library user satisfaction is highest” has an unnecessary article and an unclear noun phrase. The sentence “Staff helpfulness was very satisfied among 95% users” also has a faulty construction; the users, rather than helpfulness, should be described as satisfied. There are punctuation and capitalisation issues, including “Overall, Amongst” and the lowercase “two” after a full stop. Check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries carefully.
