Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both parts of the visual and report several key figures accurately, including the 44% share of full-time undergraduates, 95% satisfaction with staff helpfulness, and the 65% who were very satisfied with opening hours. However, the overview, “more or less people are using library for their interest,” does not clearly summarise the main patterns. The response also omits the journal-satisfaction figures and gives an inaccurate figure for wi-fi: 35% were fairly satisfied, whereas the chart shows 33%. Some comparisons are listed rather than explained, and the satisfaction results are not consistently distinguished by category. A clearer overview of the largest user group and strongest and weakest satisfaction results, followed by accurate coverage of the main comparisons, would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction, a brief overview, and separate paragraphs for user categories and satisfaction results. This helps the reader recognise the two kinds of information. However, progression within the satisfaction paragraph is uneven: opening hours and staff are followed by wi-fi and books, while journal satisfaction is left out. Linking phrases such as “Meanwhile,” “In contrast,” and “As compared to” show an attempt to connect ideas, but some are awkward or do not express a clear comparison. The overview also does not prepare the reader for the details that follow. Grouping the satisfaction results more systematically and using precise links to show contrasts would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “using library” and “satisfied for.” “More or less people” is also unclear as a description of the chart’s overall pattern. Some wording makes the report sound less natural, for example “are found in library at university.” Aim for accurate collocations and use terms such as “accounted for,” “were very satisfied with,” and “the largest user group.” This would make the descriptions more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with some attempts to combine information using “and” and contrast markers. However, frequent errors in sentence structure and agreement make several statements awkward. For example, “65 percent library user satisfied” is missing grammatical elements, and “Helpfulness of staff are 95 percent satisfied” has an agreement problem and an unclear construction. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or incorrect, as in “using library” and “satisfied for library opening hours.” The repeated pattern of listing percentages limits grammatical range. Practise complete comparative sentences, such as “Sixty-five per cent of users were very satisfied with the opening hours,” and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and prepositions.
