Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify both the user categories and satisfaction ratings, and several figures are reported accurately, including 44% for full-time undergraduates, 65% for satisfaction with opening hours, and 95% for staff helpfulness. However, the overview is unclear and includes the unsupported claim that journal availability “decreased”; the table gives satisfaction levels, not a change over time. Some figures are misread: “303%” is not a valid result, and “only 49%” not satisfied combines separate figures without explaining how. The response also gives a long list of numbers without clearly highlighting the main contrasts, such as staff helpfulness being rated more positively than journals or wi-fi. State the key overall patterns accurately, then select a few comparisons to support them.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an opening, an overview, and sections introduced by “Firstly” and “Secoundly.” This helps the reader recognise that you are discussing the two visuals and then grouping satisfaction results. However, progression within the satisfaction section is difficult to follow because many figures are presented in a repeated list, with limited explanation of how they compare. The transition to “only 49%” is also unclear, as it does not show how this total relates to the separate service ratings. Use clearer paragraphing to separate user categories from satisfaction, and organise the latter by notable contrasts rather than repeating each rating in sequence. More precise linking and referencing would make the report easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full time undergraduate,” “distance learning,” “satisfied,” and “availability,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word forms, spellings, and collocations make the report difficult to read: “catergary,” “helpfullness,” “reliblility,” and “all books availabilty they search.” Repeated use of “using library” and “says” also makes the description sound imprecise. Choose standard chart-reporting phrases such as “accounted for,” “rated,” and “availability of books,” and check spelling and word forms. More accurate vocabulary would help you describe satisfaction levels without relying on vague phrases such as “like” or “not good.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer sentences, for example, “However 16% part time postgraduate student using a library,” but most statements rely on short, repetitive patterns and many are grammatically incomplete or inaccurate. Examples include “there have five catergary,” “Mostly using library,” and “95% tell library staff are very helpfullness,” where sentence structure, verb forms, or agreement are faulty. Articles and plurals are also often missing, as in “full time postgraduate student.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationship between the figures and the services unclear. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, such as “Staff helpfulness received a very satisfied rating of 95%,” and use a small range of accurate comparison structures.
