Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the largest user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for 44%, and you also report the smaller shares for postgraduate users, distance learners and academic staff. However, the response only partially covers the table. It mentions opening hours and book availability, then gives figures for wi-fi without naming that category; helpfulness of staff and journal availability are omitted. The overview is also unclear: there is no concise summary of the main patterns across both visuals, such as staff helpfulness receiving the strongest satisfaction and journals having the highest dissatisfaction. Some details are inaccurate or incomplete, including calling 25% “the 4th” and not stating the wi-fi dissatisfaction figure as 19%. Select the key contrasts and report each category clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation: the response first discusses user categories and then moves to satisfaction data, so the reader can recognise the two broad parts of the task. However, progression within these sections is not consistently clear. Phrases such as “At first have a brief eye,” “Afterthat,” and “On other that” are awkward or inaccurate links, and the final figures are presented without identifying the satisfaction category. The response also moves from books directly to an unnamed final set of percentages, leaving the table discussion incomplete. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs and straightforward transitions such as “Regarding user categories” and “For satisfaction, staff helpfulness ranked highest.” Clear references to each category would make the sequence easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “part-time postgraduate,” “availability of books,” and “very satisfied.” This gives a basic means of describing the visuals, but the range is limited and several word choices or spelling errors make the meaning less clear. For example, “outcome of library users” does not accurately describe the chart, “usage” is used for the proportion of users, and “fairy satisfied” appears where “fairly satisfied” is intended. “The 4th on the total” is also an unclear way to describe the 25% group. Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “proportion,” and “dissatisfied,” and check spelling and collocations before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make the relationships between figures difficult to follow. For example, “The given pie chart and table illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “At first have a brief eye on full-time undergraduate students” lacks a clear grammatical structure. The sentence beginning “so the library opening hours” also joins several comparisons without clear sentence boundaries, and the final clause, “the 48% and very satisfied,” is incomplete. Use a reliable pattern for each comparison, such as “For opening hours, 65% were very satisfied, while 35% were fairly satisfied.” Check articles, agreement, complete clauses, and punctuation.
