Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both the user categories and satisfaction table, and your overview identifies the largest group, the smallest group, and staff helpfulness as a strong point. Most figures are reported accurately, including 44% for undergraduates and the satisfaction results for opening hours and staff. This meets the task well, with some features more fully covered than others: the overview could compare satisfaction across all five services, and the wi-fi figures omit the 33% who were fairly satisfied. Also, “distance learning and academic staff are only 7 and 8%” reverses the values: distance learners are 8% and academic staff 7%. More precise comparisons and a complete overview would make the key features clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by a paragraph on user categories and one on satisfaction. This makes the two parts of the visual easy to locate. However, progression within the satisfaction paragraph is less controlled, as the figures are listed service by service without a clear comparison of the strongest and weakest results. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “Whereas,” and “Furthermore” are sometimes used mechanically or where the relationship is not a contrast. For example, the sentence beginning “Whereas availability of journals and books” is not completed as a contrasting clause. Grouping related results and using more precise links would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “library users,” “satisfied,” “availability,” and “reliability,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. “Maximum number of users” is less natural than “largest proportion of users,” while “with 65% satisfied user” does not express the data clearly. There are also spelling errors in “helpfull,” “fairely,” and “staf,” and repeated use of “users” makes the account less precise. Aim for accurate phrases such as “were very satisfied” and “the proportion who were not satisfied,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your response communicates the main figures, but grammatical control is uneven and sentence structures are mostly simple, with some attempted complex forms that are incomplete or inaccurate. For example, “Overall, it can be seen that maximum number of users, from full-time undergraduate” lacks a complete grammatical structure, and “Whereas part-time postgraduate is 16%” is a fragment. There are also errors in articles and agreement, as in “The pie-chart and table illustrates,” and in constructions such as “Library opening hours with 65% satisfied user.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and practise combining comparisons accurately—for example, “Undergraduates accounted for 44%, compared with 25% for full-time postgraduates.”
