Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You report the main user groups and include all five satisfaction categories, with figures that generally match the chart and table. You also identify the largest and smallest user groups and note the strong satisfaction with staff. However, the response reads mainly as a sequence of figures rather than a clear summary of the most important patterns. The overview is limited: it would be more useful to state that undergraduates form the largest group, while academic staff are the smallest, and that staff helpfulness receives the highest satisfaction, whereas journals attract the most dissatisfaction. Some descriptions are unclear, such as saying users are satisfied with “all necessary things,” which is broader than the data supports. A more selective overview and sharper comparisons would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response follows a broadly sensible order: it describes the user categories first and then moves to satisfaction results. Sequencing phrases such as “The second one” and “The second last” help signal this order, and the reader can usually follow the figures. However, the writing is presented as one continuous block, with no clear paragraphing or distinct overview. Repeated ordinal labels make the progression mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear—for example, “Different types of library users and different percentage of all these” is not connected smoothly to the next sentence. Group related results into paragraphs, use a concise overview, and vary linking language to make comparisons rather than simply listing each row.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “academic staff,” “full-time undergraduate,” “availability of journals,” and “very satisfied,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning awkward: “outcomes of a search” does not describe a survey, “the length 8%” is unsuitable for a proportion, and “area of the library” suggests physical space rather than the share of users. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “sastisfied” and “satff.” Use precise terms such as “survey results,” “accounted for,” and “proportion of respondents,” and check spelling carefully. This would make the descriptions clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates many individual figures, but sentence structures are mostly simple and repetitive, and attempts to combine information are often faulty. For example, “Different types of library users and different percentage of all these” is a fragment, while “The first one is academic staff who have the total 7%” has an unclear clause structure. There are frequent problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the not satisfied users is zero” and the run-on transition “university.Different types.” These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Practise complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, and use a few controlled comparison structures, such as “At 44%, undergraduates made up the largest group, compared with 7% for academic staff.”
