Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share, at 44%, and you note that academic staff form the smallest group, at 7%. You also report several satisfaction figures accurately, including the 65% very satisfied with opening hours and the wi-fi results. However, the overview is incomplete: it would be stronger to compare the user categories with the satisfaction results and highlight that staff helpfulness receives the highest very-satisfied rating, while journals have the lowest and highest dissatisfaction. Some details are unclear or omitted, such as the 8% distance-learning and 16% part-time postgraduate figures being compared explicitly, and the 95% satisfaction with staff helpfulness. The response addresses the task, but not all key features are developed equally.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of the user categories and satisfaction data. This gives the reader a general route through the information. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking more closely,” and “Subsequently” help signal movement between sections, although the last is not a particularly natural transition here. Some connections between figures are difficult to follow, especially “65% pupils very satisfy with library open hours while are fairly,” where the comparison is unfinished. The satisfaction details also move between topics without a clear sequence. Grouping all satisfaction results together and using complete comparisons would make the progression more logical and cohesion less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “satisfaction,” “percentage,” and “availability,” and you attempt to vary expressions with phrases such as “highest ratio” and “most happy.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear: “highest ratio who spend time in library,” “pupils,” and “very like it” do not describe survey satisfaction appropriately. There are also spelling errors, including “realiability,” and repeated use of “satisfy” where the adjective “satisfied” is needed. Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “respondents,” and “were very satisfied.” This would improve clarity while retaining your relevant vocabulary range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including “Overall, it is clear that…” and “Those who are part time postgraduates use library 16%.” However, grammatical errors occur across the response and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “This table and chart display the data of a survey who use library” has an incomplete relative construction, while “there are 25% full-time postgraduates students” uses an unsuitable sentence pattern and plural form. In “65% pupils very satisfy… while are fairly,” the sentence lacks necessary articles and a complete verb structure. Work on forming accurate subject–verb patterns, articles, and complete comparisons. More reliable control of these basic structures would make your information easier to understand.
