Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The given pie chart illustrates categories of library users at a university while the tabular data demonstrates satisfaction of library users.
Overall, maximum number of library users are full-time undergraduates while the lowest ratio of library users is distance learning. Moreover, majority of library users fully satisfied with helpfulness of staff while a number of users not satisfied with availability of journals.
To begin with pie chart, the number of library users are mostly full-time undergraduate with 44% of total following by full-time postgraduates with quarter of total. Part-time postgraduates contribute 16% while academic staff and distance learning contribute least value with 7% and 8% respectively.
Turning to table, majority of library users fully satisfied with helpfulness of staff with 95% following by library opening hours with 65% of satisfaction. Almost fifty percent users satisfy with availability of books while the lowest satisfaction ratio goes to, availability of journals and reliability of wi-fi with 45% and 48% respectively. Some users also not satisfied with availability of books, journals and reliability of wi-fi with ratio 10%, 20% and 19% respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover both visuals and provide a clear overview: undergraduates form the largest user group, distance learners the smallest, and staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction rating. The figures for user categories are accurate, and you select relevant comparisons from the table, including the high ratings for staff and opening hours and the dissatisfaction with journals and Wi-Fi. To make the report more fully developed, distinguish the satisfaction categories more precisely: for example, 50% are very satisfied with books, while another 40% are fairly satisfied. The phrase “lowest satisfaction ratio” for journals and Wi-Fi is also imprecise, since Wi-Fi has a slightly higher very-satisfied figure than journals; identify the specific measure being compared.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a final paragraph on satisfaction. Sequencing phrases such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “Turning to table” help the reader follow the shift between visuals. The main opportunity is to make links between comparisons more precise and less repetitive. In the final paragraph, “the lowest satisfaction ratio goes to” groups journals and Wi-Fi together without clarifying that the figures refer to very satisfied users, and the repeated “with” constructions make the information feel list-like. Use clearer contrasts, such as “By comparison” or “whereas,” and group related satisfaction results to create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “categories,” “contribute,” “satisfaction,” and “reliability,” and the meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “maximum number” and “lowest ratio” are less natural for percentages, while “fully satisfied” does not clearly distinguish the table’s “very satisfied” category. “Following by” and “contribute least value” also show limited control of common reporting expressions. Aim for precise chart language and vary repeated terms such as “library users” and “satisfaction.” More accurate collocations will make the comparisons sound natural and help you report the table’s categories without ambiguity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and the response is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “maximum number of library users are” needs an article and singular agreement (“the largest group … is”), while “majority of library users fully satisfied” is missing both an article and a finite verb. In “the number of library users are mostly full-time undergraduate,” the subject and complement do not agree in form. There are also punctuation and spacing slips, including the comma after “goes to.” Practise building complete sentences around accurate subjects and verbs, while retaining the clear paragraph structure you already use.
