Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both visuals and report the figures accurately, including the largest user group (full-time undergraduates, 44%) and the satisfaction percentages for all five services. This gives the response relevant information across the task. However, the overview mainly describes what the visuals contain rather than identifying their key findings. It would be more effective to state that undergraduates form the largest user group, while academic staff are the smallest, and that staff helpfulness receives the strongest satisfaction. The opening-hours results could also be highlighted as having no dissatisfied users. Some wording, such as saying staff members used the library, is unclear because the chart identifies academic staff as users, not library employees. These omissions and unclear interpretations limit how fully the main features are presented.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories, and a paragraph on satisfaction. The figures are generally presented in a logical order, and sequencing expressions such as “First,” “Second,” and “And in final” help readers follow the lists. However, the progression is somewhat mechanical, with repeated ordinal transitions rather than comparisons that show relationships between the data. The overview also repeats the task’s categories instead of summarising the main patterns. Some references are unclear, particularly “Apart from the library users,” and the final paragraph reads as a sequence of separate data points. Grouping the strongest and weakest satisfaction results would make the organisation more purposeful.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time undergraduate,” “part-time postgraduate,” “availability,” and “reliability,” so the reader can identify the categories and services being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “accessed library” and “used library” are repeated where “accounted for” or “used the library” would be more natural, while “satisfied user” does not clearly express satisfaction ratings. There are also spelling errors in “cources,” “catogories,” “availablity,” and “reliablity.” More precise language for comparing proportions and satisfaction levels would improve clarity and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response mainly uses simple statements and list-like constructions, with limited variety in sentence patterns. Some attempts at longer structures are difficult to control, as in “Overall, pie chart described individual categories … that is staff members and students,” where the relationships between ideas are not clearly expressed. There are recurring errors in articles, agreement, and sentence formation: “The pie chart and table illustrates” should use a plural verb, and “the percentage of satisfied user” needs a clearer grammatical form. Several fragments, including “First library opening hours people give 65%, 35% and 0%,” also make the data harder to interpret. Aim for complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use accurate comparative structures.
