Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Categories of library users
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart and table illustrates the outputs of a survey of library users by their categories and their satisfaction percentage in five tiers.
Overall, the pie chart shows that full time undergraduate students contributes more as library users while distance learning contributes the least and full time postgraduates covers a quarter. Mostly users are very satisfied with the library except for some tiers.
The full time undergraduate students are the major library users contributing 44% while distance learning of all courses is at the least which is 8%. The full time and part time postgraduates contributes 41% which is 3% less than the undergraduates students. Only 7% academic staff are library users.
Overall, 95% of users are very satisfied with helping behaviour of library staff, 5% are fairly satisfied and none is dissatisfied. 50% of users are very satisfied with the availability of books, 40% are fairly satisfied and 10% users are dissatisfied. The users which are dissatisfied with availability of journals are 20% but 80% are satisfied in this tier. 81% users are satisfied with the availability of Wifi service, having only 19% users which are not satisfied.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main user group accurately (full-time undergraduates, 44%) and the smallest (academic staff, 7%), and you report several satisfaction figures correctly, including staff helpfulness and book availability. The overview also recognises that satisfaction is generally high. However, some important features are omitted: opening-hours satisfaction is not discussed, and the comparison between journals and wi-fi is only partly developed. The statement that “full time and part time postgraduates” total 41% is correct, but the comparison with undergraduates would be clearer if you specified that this combines two separate categories. “Except for some tiers” is vague and does not identify where dissatisfaction is highest. More complete coverage and a sharper overview of the strongest and weakest satisfaction results would make the summary more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on user categories and a paragraph on satisfaction. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. However, progression within the satisfaction paragraph is somewhat mechanical, with repeated sentence openings such as “50% of users…” and “The users which are dissatisfied…”. The two uses of “Overall” also make the organisation less precise: the second introduces specific data rather than a new overview. Some references are unclear, particularly “except for some tiers” and “in this tier,” which require the reader to infer the intended comparison. Grouping the satisfaction results into positive and weaker areas, and using clearer links between them, would improve flow and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “library users,” “very satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” and “availability,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “helping behaviour” and “contributing.” However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing survey data: “outputs of a survey” is less suitable than “results,” and users do not “contribute” as library users. “Full time” and “part time” should be written as compound modifiers with hyphens, while “Wifi service” is less precise than “wi-fi reliability.” Repeated use of “users” and “satisfied” also limits flexibility. More accurate collocations and varied terms for proportions and satisfaction would strengthen the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use both simple sentences and some more developed structures, including the comparison “which is 3% less than the undergraduates students” and the participial phrase “having only 19% users…”. The main information remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. In the opening, “The pie chart and table illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error; the plural subject requires “illustrate.” Similar agreement problems appear in “students contributes” and “postgraduates contributes.” There are also article and plural issues in “the undergraduates students,” and the clause “The users which are dissatisfied” would be more accurately formed with “who” or by restructuring the sentence. Aim for consistent agreement and clearer relative clauses while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
