Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify both visuals and report several accurate figures, including 44% for full-time undergraduates, 25% for full-time postgraduates, and 7% for academic staff. You also recognise that library opening hours and staff helpfulness receive strong satisfaction ratings. However, the overview is not consistently accurate: you call full-time graduates the largest user group, whereas full-time undergraduates are the largest at 44%. The satisfaction overview is also too general. Wi-fi is not the least satisfactory category overall: journals have the highest dissatisfaction at 20%, compared with 19% for wi-fi. The response mentions the table’s categories but gives few supporting figures from it. Select the main contrasts accurately and support them with key percentages.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about user categories, and a final paragraph about satisfaction. This helps the reader distinguish the two visuals. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the linking phrases do not always create logical connections. For example, “With Subsequent” does not clearly introduce the satisfaction data, while “Start with the pie chart” is an awkward transition. The overview also repeats information that is developed again in the next paragraph, and the final paragraph lists several categories without organising their results into a clear comparison. Use a concise overview, then group related figures and compare them in a logical order.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, such as “percentage,” “satisfaction,” “availability,” and “reliability,” and you attempt to describe comparisons with phrases such as “less than others.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, including “highest using ratio,” “fully satisfied,” and “bitter greater.” Repeated use of “user” and “satisfaction” also makes the response less precise. Spelling errors such as “liberary,” “openeing,” and “jounals” are noticeable and weaken clarity. Practise accurate chart language, especially terms for proportions and satisfaction levels, and check spelling before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “In the Pie chart categorized the user of liberary show with their percentages” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “The percentage of Academic staff is only 7% and this is less than others in whole chart” has missing articles and an awkward comparison pattern. Subject–verb agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in “Pie chart have different users.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and practise accurate article use and plural agreement. Shorter, well-controlled comparisons would improve clarity before you attempt more complex structures.
