Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main user group correctly: full-time undergraduates account for the largest share at 44%, while academic staff and distance learners are the smallest groups at 7% and 8%. You also report most satisfaction figures accurately, including the 95% very satisfied with staff helpfulness and the 20% not satisfied with journal availability. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not clearly summarise the strongest and weakest satisfaction results. The sentence saying opening hours and staff helpfulness “are stisfioed” is unclear, and the claim that academic staff and distance-learning students were “most common” contradicts the figures. A clearer overview comparing the highest satisfaction for staff helpfulness with lower ratings for journals and wi-fi would make the key features more fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response includes both user categories and satisfaction data, and it moves broadly from the chart to the table. However, the information is presented as one continuous paragraph, so the two parts of the visual are not clearly separated. The opening overview is difficult to follow, and the later sequence of figures becomes a list rather than a clearly organised comparison. Linking words such as “however,” “although” and “in contrast” are used, but some do not express the relationship between the ideas that follow them. For example, the contrast introduced before the postgraduate figures is not developed clearly. Use separate paragraphs for the overview, user categories and satisfaction results, and group the satisfaction items by their stronger or weaker ratings.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “categories,” “approximately,” “satisfaction,” and “availability,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. “The result of survey” and “users of library” are repeated, while “fairly satisfaction” and “0% not agree” are not natural ways to describe the data. There are also spelling errors, such as “stisfioed” and “porpotion.” These issues sometimes make the reader work to understand your comparisons. Aim for precise, reusable expressions such as “accounted for,” “were very satisfied,” and “the proportion who were not satisfied,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to combine information using longer sentences and contrast clauses, but the grammatical control is inconsistent. Several sentences lack a clear verb or complete structure, as in “Overall the full time undergraduate highest categories of library users.” Agreement and articles are also problematic in phrases such as “Availability of books are” and “the result of survey.” Some sentence boundaries are missing, notably where the introduction runs directly into “Overall,” and commas do not consistently clarify the long lists of figures. These errors can make relationships between the data difficult to follow. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences first, then add comparisons with controlled clauses, for example: “Full-time undergraduates formed the largest group, at 44%.”
